As a result of industry demand, the new designs allow block paving to be laid by specialist machines. They provide accuracy and speed and reduce the requirement for manual labour.

A mixed-use scheme in Nottingham is employing curtain walling, windows and doors from Kawneer to help the project fulfil its brief of linking the historic Lace Market with the city centre.
The scheme used Kawneer's AA100 50 mm curtain walling system with fritted spandrel panels, AA601 top-hung casement windows, curved on plan, and AA605 low or medium duty swing doors.
Kier Marriott was the main contractor on the project, which was worth £10m.

Thought to be the oldest Lido in the UK, Bristol Lido has been transformed into a model for energy efficiency by a restoration, which includes Thermomax solar thermal collectors from Kingspan Solar, providing up to 70 per cent of the heating for water on the site.
Thermomax is claimed to be one of the highest-performing solar collectors available, and is helping reduce energy bills as well as the CO2 emissions of the Lido.
The client specified 720 Thermomax HP200 vacuum tubes, which cover 80 m2 of the south-facing roof.

A Luxalon suspended solid wood linear ceiling designed in the shape of a wave has been created over the swimming pool area of Abingdon Sports Centre in Oxfordshire. The ceiling was designed by architect Buttress, Fuller, Alsop and Williams and was supplied by Hunter Douglas Projects ceiling division.
The ceiling consists of 700 m2 of American Yellow Poplar timber slats in a linear open system, fitted with a non woven acoustic fleece with additional acoustic material fixed at the higher levels.

All six wings of a new community hospital in Ayrshire have been supplied with 4,694 m2 of trusses by donaLdson timber engineering.
The largest wing of the hospital required a high number of different truss types, requiring 359 individual trusses and 48 different truss types. The spans of the hospital were so large that the firm had to make the trusses in three sections and ensure strict manufacturing controls, ensuring that they joined together perfectly on-site.
