Alfa Laval; A hall that's hard to heat

Efficient heating solution from Alfa Laval

When St Antony’s College at Oxford University needed to improve comfort levels in a hard-to-heat dining hall, dimplex’s commercial heating experts came up with an efficient solution to keep students warm all year round.
By combining a fast warm-up using powerful fan heaters, with air curtains to minimise heat loss from doorways, the solution quickly raises the temperature to a comfortable level and easily retains the warmth for the duration of use, says the firm.
The 1960s dining hall has large single-glazed window and low insulation levels, and is used for a variety of functions.
The college consulted local contractor RT Harris to find a permanent and effective solution. David Sexton from the firm explains: “Reliability was crucial, due to the frequent usage of the hall and the high volumes of people using it.”
