AET has provided the £113m Manchester Civil Justice Centre with what is claimed to be efficient and highly adaptable air conditioning, courtesy of the firm's CAM-based underfloor Flexible Space System.
With 47 Courtrooms and a floor area of 34,000 m2, the centre is the largest court building to be built in the UK in 130 years. The striking but complex structure means that few of the multi-purpose rooms are the same size and shape. Therefore engineering designer Mott MacDonald selected AET's product for its versatility, as a low-energy mixed module, said the firm.
Installed by Axima Hills throughout the office accommodation, mixed mode ventilation was achieved through a combination of the CAM-driven underfloor air conditioning and free cooling.
