Part of the expanding range of door closers supplied by Assa Abloy Architectural Solutions, the new Union N8899 electromagnetic door closer is suitable for fire doors installed on circulation routes within public buildings.
The closer is Certifire-approved and has been tested to EN 1155. When linked to an alarm system, the door closer offers the choice of 'hold-open' and 'swing-free' functionality. This ensures that cross-corridor fire doors are held open at a selectable angle of between 75 and 180 degrees to allow free passage of traffic. As soon as a fire emergency is indicated, doors automatically revert to the self-closing function to meet fire safety requirements.
The Union door has functionality with size 4 Regular Arm, size 3 Parallel Arm, and Linear and Curve covers.
Two new door closers from Assa Abloy Architectural Solutions have been launched for the commercial and refurbishment markets.
The Union Retro 3 and Retro 4 closers are designed for retro-fitting as they have the same fixing holes and footprint as other products on the market. Supplied at two power levels, size three for doors up to 60kg and 950mm wide, and size four for 80kg and 1100mm.
Designed to satisfy the requirements of BS3621:2004, Assa Abloy has introduced the London Line locking system. The London Line Nightlatch and Hook Bolt mortice lock use the Mul-T-Lock cylinder system which incorporates a precision moving insert which interacts with a spring loaded pin in the cylinder plug to produce a 'virtual combination'. Both products are force resistant and robust.
Increasing the effectiveness of its access control procedures, the Solicard 6000 electronic access control system from ASSA is being used by the Royal Berkshire Fire & Rescue Services. The 30 control units are modem-linked and use Magstripe card technology. Some 80 card readers are currently in use. The Solicard 6000 is suitable for multi-building installations and remote sites. It is also capable of full integration with other building management systems.
To meet the requirements of safety and security on perimeter and final exit doors, ASSA has added two new types of panic exit device to its emergency escape range. The ASSA 1800 and 4800 are CE marked and conform to BS EN 1125. Both products offer a choice of one to three locking points, dependent on the level of security required. They are suitable for both single- and double-leaf doors and have been approved for fire doors rated up to two hours.
