A new 150 litre cylinder from Alpha Heating Innovation enables its SolarSmart solar thermal system to supply much larger quantities of solar-heated water.
While the company's existing 90 litre version is ideal for smaller properties, the new cylinder is designed for projects with high water demand, such as large family homes and commercial buildings.
The floor-mounted stainless steel unvented cylinder has 100 mm insulation and a 10 litre drainback unit, unvented kit and wall-mountable control box. The '150 Pack' can be used with Alpha's existing roof-mounted solar panels, which can be linked side-by-side. Two, three or four solar panels can be specified according to the situation and energy efficiency demands. Depending on how many are used, SolarSmart, together with the 150 litre cylinder can make an impressive contribution towards Level 3 of the CfSH- up to 10 per cent of the 25 per cent energy efficiency improvement required, says the firm.

Two developments from Alpha Heating Innovation's FlowSmart boiler range spell good news for the house building industry's drive to reduce carbon emissions.
The product has been added to BRE's Appendix Q, which allows the energy performance of new technologies, plus advanced versions of existing technologies, to be evaluated for inclusion in SAP assessments.
In addition, the National House Building Council has confirmed it will accept domestic heating system designs that incorporate FlowSmart, in accordance with Chapter 8.1 of the Council's standards.
Compact and easy to install, FlowSmart can deliver 18 litres of hot water per minute, at a minimum 50 degree Centigrade, for up to 30 minutes.
