Displayed at Interbuild this year will be the Ancon AMR from Sheffield-based Ancon. The product is a steel reinforcement system that locates in the bed joint to strengthen masonry panels without thickening the wall.
The longitudinal steel wires are flattened to less than 3mm to ensure good mortar cover is maintained, even when lapped or used with wall ties. Cross wires are then welded in the same plane.
Available in various standard configurations, the Ancon AMR suits a wide range of structural load conditions and is designed to support wall widths from 100mm to 215mm.

The Ancon ST1 wall tie is now available in five lengths to suit cavaties from 50mm to 150mm.
In its longest length, 300mm, the ST1 is ideal for cavities of 150mm. This tie allows for additional embedment in the inner leaf to help keep the tie horizontal during build, which can be difficult to achieve with a 275mm tie installed at standard embedment.
As a Type 1 Heavy Duty Tie to BS5628-1 (2005), a British Standard which classifies ties according to their strength and function, the ST1 can be used with any building in the British isles.
Expansion to the Staifix range of Stainless Steel Wall ties from Ancon Building Products includes the Staifix 'stf' wall tie. Designed to fix masonry to timber frames up to four storeys in height, it is now available to suit a 100mm cavity. Other variations of this tie suit 50mm and 75mm cavities. The product meets Part E of the Building Regulations as a Type B tie for external cavity walls.
Isolan connectors from Ancon join external concrete balconies to internal concrete floor slabs. Used to minimise cold bridging, the system provides continuity to the thermal insulation of the building envelope. Standard systems comprise of rigid CFC-free polystyrene insulation and duplex stainless steel shear reinforcement. The system's tension reinforcement uses conventional bars to save costs.
In order to tie masonry to structural steelwork without shot-firing or site drilling, Ancon has launched a new 'Hammer On' fixing. No power tools are required which eliminates exposure to Hand-Arm Vibration. Each fixing either abuts the steel or attaches to the flange to restrain masonry walls against lateral wind loads. The fixing is one of six non-drill solutions from the company.
Need help selecting wall ties www.ancon.co.uk now features an interactive product selector to identify the most appropriate Ancon or Staifix wall tie for your application. Ancon manufactures wall ties for all building heights, cavity widths and construction methods; so however the inner leaf is constructed ? whether traditional build, thin-joint blockwork, timber frame or steel studwork ? Ancon has a fixing solution for the masonry cladding. Visitors to www.ancon.co.uk simply click through a series of options that describe their project requirements and the ideal product is quickly identified. Specifying a tie for use in a separating wall, that complies with Part E regulations, has never been so easy.
