Ancon's range of low thermal conductivity wall ties have been developed to minimise heat loss through thermal bridging, improving the energy efficiency of a masonry cavity wall.
According to Ancon the use of these ties can reduce insulation depth and wall footprint.
In addition to a number of stainless steel wire wall ties, the range includes the Ancon TeploTie which is manufactured from pultruded basalt fibres set in resin. This BBA approved product is available exclusively from Ancon, it has a thermal conductivity of just 0.7 W/m²K, making it the most thermally efficient wall tie on the market, says the firm.
The company now has a BBA-approved, low conductivity wall tie for cavities from 50 mm to 300 mm. Literature is now available on the range.

Masonry reinforcement for collar-jointed walls is the latest product from Ancon.
Ancon AMR-CJ is used to tie the two leaves of thin masonry together, so that they act as a single unit. The product consists of flat tiles, welded to flattened longitudinal wires. Manufactured in stainless and galvanised steel, AMR-CJ is supplied in a standard width of 175 mm to suit a wall of 215 mm with either standard bricks or 100 mm blocks.
Staifix Wire Balloons from Ancon are a simple and effective way of keeping chimneys and downpipes clear of nesting birds, leaves and other debris.
Available in six standard sizes - 2.5 inch, 3 inch, 4 inch, 6 inch, 8 inch and 9 inch, the wire balloons are manufactured from half- and three-quarter-inch galvanised steel mesh, and supplied in packs of five.
The products are claimed to be maintenance-free, and to require no specialist installation.
Helical nails from Ancon Building Products are quick and reliable fixings, say the firm, for use in warm roof applications.
Unlike traditional nails, Helical nails rotate as they are driven in, inducing a self-tapping action. These nails prevent split timbers and do not compress the layer of insulation.
Ancon supplies fixing solutions for both pitched and flat roofs. The company's Staifix range includes two nail types.
To enable accurate U-value calculations for a wall, Ancon Building Products has added the cross-sectional areas of its wall ties to its website and literature.
The effect of wall ties on wall U-values is often insignificant and can be omitted in accordance with EN ISO 6946. The use of the actual cross-sectional area of a wall tie, rather than the default values found in many U-value calculators, can make a considerable difference.
Ancon has successfully value-engineered its wall tie range to provide high performance at a competitive price.
Wall ties are an important element in the stability of cavity walls. Stainless steel ties are corrosion resistant, come in various lengths and are 100 per cent recyclable, says the company.
The Staifix range of stainless steel cavity wall ties from Ancon Building Products continues to grow. This unrivalled portfolio now includes the first 250 mm long, Type 4/Type A, light duty wall tie. The new Staifix HRT4 250 mm has been independently tested to the performance requirements of a Type 4 tie to BS5628 and a Type A tie to approved Document E. As a Type 4 tie, the HRT4 250 mm is suitable for use in external walls or houses no more than 10 m high and with a cavity in the range 101 mm to 125 mm as a Type A tie, suitable for use in internal separating walls of new-build attached dwellings with a 125 mm cavity.
