An Indian restaurant in Blackburn is yet another establishment to feature the Flamesafe fire rated downlights from Ansell Lighting. The downlights ensure full compliance with the relevant Approved Documents of the Building Regulations legislation on lighting cut into a fire barrier. Ansell say the recessed low voltage downlights have also provided the needed sparkle to enhance the overall lighting scheme while also offering a chrome finish to provide an aesthetic appeal. The company adds that the Flamesafe range has been designed to provide a solution for fire, acoustic and moisture prevention applications.

Cool Top, an inground luminaire, has joined the Ansell Lighting product line-up. Designed for use on commercial buildings, the fitting was developed to minimise the temperature of the exterior glass This has been achieved by encasing the ballast in a layer of resin to reduce the temperature inside the fitting and by incorporating two layers of glass, in order to reduce the surface temperature of the cover. This has helped to achieve a maximum glass surface temperature of 70?C. The lamp and reflector housing is adjustable to 10? allowing installers to use the symmetrical beam for up-lighting trees and landscaping. To provide further protection against moisture ingress, this metal halide inground uplighter has a M20 x 1.5mm single gland between the control gear and the junction box at the bottom of the luminaire in order to achieve an 'Ingress Protection figure of IP67. The attached junction box is made from thermoplastic.

The lighting design work for the refurbishment of the reception at Runshaw College Adult Education Centre in Leyland was undertaken by Ansell Lighting. The ceiling was illuminated by the company's Galaxy Compact Fluorescent luminaires, which were fitted into the 600 x 600 suspended ceiling grids. In order to give some upward light spill, floating glasses were fitted to the luminaires. They were also fitted with High Frequency Control Gear for energy efficient purposes.

With the new Twistlock range of luminaries from Ansell Lighting, there is no requirement for spring mechanisms and other forms of lamp retention. The products use a lamp retaining ring which uses a horseshoe shape clip that accepts various lamp types including low voltage, GU10 mains halogen, GU10-CFL and LED lamps. Models in the range include 35mm and 50mm versions, in a selection of downlights and gimbals, including low voltage options and adjustable wall wash luminaries. IP44 interior and exterior versions are also available.

The Titan product is suitable for large public or private areas such as offices, hotels and restaurants. Its robust steel housing with extruded aluminium side profiles feature a silk screen glass diffuser to create an aesthetically pleasing design.
