Ardex has redesigned its Ardex WPC Flexible Rapid Setting and Drying Waterproof Protection Coat pack to make it more user friendly. The newly named Ardex Waterproof Protection System now contains a free roll of mesh scrim alongside the existing powder and liquid components as well as a "Five Step Guide".

One of London's most revered luxury department stores, Daks on Old Bond Street, has undergone a redesign. The new-look store has been divided into areas for separate collections and the store boasts handcrafted panels of English Oak and suede lining. Stone contractors Watson Stonecraft specified Ardex to provide the fixing solution for 1500 m² of Lazenby Stone throughout the interior. Ardex S 20 incorporates the Ardex Rapidry Formula which combats the problem of water staining occurring in natural stone. This staining is often caused by moisture from traditional tile adhesives being absorbed into stone. Rapidry Formula 'locks' the mix water within the mortar virtually eliminating the risk of water staining.

For the floor of a new BHS store in Llandudno, a flooring system by Ardex has been applied. The surface was pre-smoothed with Arditex NA. A self-smoothing, protein free latex levelling compound, Arditex NA can be up to 30mm thick when Ardex Aggregate is incorporated, and up to 12mm thick in a single application. To complete the project, Ardex AF 100 adhesive was applied, which is compatible with underfloor heating.

An industrial flooring system solution has been provided by Ardex for a new Cancer Research UK building. The new institute is housed on the Li Ka Shing Centre on the Cambridge Bio-Medical Campus site. For levelling the floor, the Ardex SD-T and R 30 E topping and coating system was installed. The 2000m area designated for future use as laboratories, received a pumped application of Ardex SD-T to give a fluid, rapid drying, self levelling mortar which provided a hard, smooth and flat surface prior to the application of R 30 E Water-based Epoxy Coating. Developed to provide an easy to clean surface R 30 E has adhesion to concrete, screeds and other substrates.

While refurbishing its studio one at its mains broadcasting centre, Ireland's public broadcaster RTE selected Ardex to replace its 400m? asphalt floor with the Ardex SD-T floor. The manufacturer says the floor is enjoying much popularity, known to provide "unparalelled performance, versatility, flatness, and durability." The areas was primed with Ardex 3 R E Solvent Free Epoxy Primer which was sand blinded prior to the application of the floor's base mix. Ardex has built in 'Radpidry Formula' technology meaning that the surface will dry within a few hours therefore allowing the application of the floor topping, Ardex K 80, soon after. Following assessment of the floor Ardex R R 25 E was applied. The product is said, by the manufacturer, to be a self-smoothing epoxy floor resin.

New floorcoverings at Gala Bingo's new Bristol location have been fixed using the range of Ardex flooring adhesives. For fixing the Durafit System underlay, the company's AF 890 Surface Tackifier was specified. It is equally effective whether roller or spray applied. To lay the 1500m of Axminster carpets, the company's AF 200 general purpose carpet adhesive was specified. With a long tack time and a solvent free formulation, the product is suitable for adhering to a range of textile floorcoverings including fibre bonded, needle punch, latex rubber, hessian and some pvc-based sheets and tiles. For installation of the vinyl floorcoverings, AF 100 Pressure sensitive acrylic flooring adhesive was used. Incorporating the company's adhesive technology, it is suitable for use with all types of pvc or vinyl and can be applied by trowel.

With the UK food and drinks industry requiring conformation with health and safety standards, Cropton Brewery installed a industrial flooring system from Ardex. Offering a fast track and easily cleaned surface, Ardex R 90 rake and trowel grade heavy duty polyurethane screed was supplied as four components in pre-measured packs in order to provide a high chemically resistant floor, with a seamless and joint free finish. The product's formulation allows for an easily worked system that can be applied with a pin rake and trowel. A tough, pigmented layer from 4mm to 9mm thick is achieved with the cured system, resulting in a hard wearing, slip resistant resin flooring system which will withstand hygiene routines.

New latex levelling compounds have been launched by Ardex. Arditex NA and Arditex RS 2 are ammonia-free with improved flow and water resistant properties making them suitable for use above or below a damp proof membrane. NA is for use on sand/cement screeds, asphalt, and quarry tiles, whilst RS 2 can be used on concrete and screeds.

Fixing and grouting solutions for a renovation project on the Isle of Wight have been provided by Ardex. The site, which comprises a twoacre lake and walled garden complex originally formed the landscape of a Victorian seaside residence located in the 'Undercliff' at St Lawrence. For the project, Albion Stones' Ancaster Rose limestone tile were fixed on the ground floor using Ardex S 16 W white rapid hardening and drying wall and floor tile and natural stone adhesive, in conjunction with the company's P 51 primer. For the wet room, the floor area was treated with a waterproof protection coat, Ardex WPC, prior to the fixing of limestone tiles with the company's S 16 W and E 90 adhesives.

The purpose built 8,000m² manufacturingheadquarters of Percy Dalton?s Famous Peanut Company required a durable installation which would withstand the rigours of a food production environment. Covering some 18,500m² of shopping mall floor, Ardex has supplied tiling products for a ?30m refurbishment project at the Lakeside Shopping Centre, Thurrock. In order for shopping hours not to be disrupted, it was necessary to complete the work overnight. This involved preparing and smoothing the existing terrazzo sub-floor using the company?s latex smoothing compound Arditex. Throughout the malls, large format tiles were fixed to the newly smoothed surface using Ardex-Flex S 38 floor tiles bedding mortar. The mortar is designed for good adhesion, pourable consistency, and allows 30min. to adjust tile position to achieve a solid bedding. To fix the feature tiles S 16 grey rapid setting wall and floor tile was employed with E 90 admix. The adhesive will allow tiles to be grouted or accept traffic after 3hr., fitting the specification for an overnight solution. The majority of the remaining tiles were grouted using the company?s C 2 grey cement-based tile grout, in conjunction with E 101 admixture.

Its portfolio of retail sector installations has helped Ardex to secure the contract for the flooring solution at a new Mothercare store. The company worked in partnership with contractor Peter Evans Flooring, who were commissioned by Mothercare to install the 1250m² floor at its new superstore in the Lakeside Shopping Centre in Thurrock. Ardex K 15 was chosen to fulfil the project criteria. The prepared and primed sub-floor received a self-levelling layer of the flooring which is designed to deliver a smooth, hard and flat finish, regardless of whether pump or trowel applied. The surface was walkable 2hr. after application and able to receive the Amtic floorcovering within 24hr.

All of the corridors, day rooms and 20 bedrooms in a wing of Colman Hospital in Norwich have been refurbished with a duo of flooring products from Ardex. The existing floor surface was pre-smoothed with Arditex, a smoothing compound which can be used for the smoothing of a variety of surfaces before applying the floorcovering. Using Ardex AF pressure sensitive acrylic floor adhesive the Gerflor Metallica floorcovering was then installed. With high yield and low odour, the adhesive is suitable for use with all types of pvc/vinyl floorcoverings and underfloor heating.

When a Ferrari dealership in Nottingham required a new showroom floor it employed Talbot Construction who specified a levelling compound from Ardex. The ?5.5 million Ferrari dealership required a flat and hard subfloor to provide the base for the fixing of large format Ferrari branded 600 x 600mm ceramic floor tiles. A 25mm pumped application of Ardex K 15-B advanced levelling compound was applied to the existing uneven sub-floor. The compound has been designed for thicker levelling applications from 7 to 35mm. Rapid drying and hardening is assured thanks to the incorporation of the company?s ?Rapidry Formula? technology. In this application the floor was hard enough to walk on after 2hr. and the Ferrari ceramic floor tiles could be fixed after 4hr.
