Two Aura companies have joined forces to offer a written guarantee of a minimum of 80,000 hours on its fluorescent luminaires. Aura Ultimate tubes from the Greenstock Lamp company are being supplied to the Aura Corporation to offer Superlife versions of its Actulite polarised daylight fluorescent fittings.

Following testing by Aura on its Ultimate T8 long life fluorescent tubes, it has been able to define the service life specification to 70,000 hours. The life, when running on electronic control gear for a warm start, is based on a three hour switching cycle calculated to 80% of initial lumens. Extended life testing in accordance with IEC/EN 60081 testing standards has allowed the company to make the life claims. A cathode shield construction and inside protection layer allows for the longer lifespan and output.

Developed as an alternative to a flourescent light box for the treatment of Seasonal Affective Disorder, Aura Corporation offer the Actulite Polarised Daylight Lighting System. The light produced is almost identical to the light on a slightly overcast spring day, the company claims. When Actulite luminaires are installed in a domestic kitchen or study, there are designed to engender a 'feel good' factor. This means that SAD sufferers do not have to look into a light box for hours.
