Two of the prizes at the Flat Roofing Alliance Awards went to Bauder. The company clinched the Best Refurbishment Project and the coveted Best in Show awards for its delivery of the 'green' roof on the prominent Fort Dunlop Building in Birmingham.
The sedum roof, a lightweight system helped turn the previously derelict building into a development with a habitat haven for a range of wildlife including the black redstart.
The judges described it as a spectacular complex upgrading a huge redundant building aesthetically and environmentally pleasing. The awards recognise outstanding contribution to the roofing industry.
Two of Bauder's latest roofing systems have been awarded BBA certificates.
The company's Bakor 790-11 EV hot melt monolithic membrane contains at least 25% post-consumer recycled content. It is suitable for green roofs, terraces and substructures and is delivered to site in recyclable cardboard. Providing a fast track, flame free roofing solution, the Bauder Thermofoil pvc single ply system is resistant to tears and punctures and can be installed using mechanical fixings or adhesive bonding.
At this year's national awards run by the Flat Roofing Alliance, the award for 'product excellence' went to Bauder for its Total Roofing System.
It is a bituminous based waterproofing system that incorporates a new method of fixing to improve safety on site and speed up the installation process.
A combination of technologies has been developed to merge the durability and robustness of torch-applied SBS bitumen systems with the speed and safety characteristics associated with self adhesive membranes.
The new membranes feature 'Duo' lap technology, which includes colour coded laps which are sealed with a gas torch for added security.
