Exterior groud access cover range - Bilco UK Ltd

Access doors manufacturer Bilco UK has introduced a range of covers which provide access to underground services while blending in with the finish of the surface in which they are laid. The covers are tested in accordance with EN124 and are available in steel, stainless steel or aluminium in a range of depths and structures to accept pedestrian, vehicular or industrial loadings. They can be be finished with brick, concrete or other materials to allow panels to merge with driveways, patios and car parks.

Bilco boosts Anchor Point - Bilco UK Ltd

Access doors and vents manufacturer, Bilco UK, has delivered 13 smoke vents from its REM range to the Anchor Point development in the Bramall Quarter of Sheffield. As part of the project Bilco supplied six NB-50REM, five FW-50REM and two HW-50REM smoke ventilators, which are installed on the rooftops. The company told Building Products that three new buildings at Anchor Point have a smoke control system installed in case of fire. If smoke is detected the Bilco REM vents will automatically open above the various stairwells (including the fire escape stairwells) tha provide access to the buildings.

TER Floor Door - Bilco UK Ltd

Home cellar company Spiral Cellars has chosen leading access doors and vents manufacturer Bilco to supply its TER floor door to wine cellars across the UK. Spiral Cellars install watertight cylindrical systems that are sunk into the ground allowing wine storage space of up to 1,600 bottles. The floor doors provided by Bilco are 898 x 1500mm in size and are designed with a pan cover to accept a variety of flooring materials up to 25 mm in thickness. This allows the cellar doors to be hidden in the floor and allows it to be placed in any room in the house. Simon Shand-Brown, sales and marketing manager at Bilco, said: 'A key distinguishing characteristic of a Bilco floor door is the way it operates. Each door is engineered to provide smooth, easy and controlled operation, even when filled with york stone or ceramic tiles'. Features that come as standard include a positive hold open arm that engages automatically when the door leaf is fully open, heavy duty hinges and a stainless steel slam lock with removable top-side handle They also feature anti-corrosion hardware. TER floor doors are constructed of 6.35 mm aluminium diamond pattern plate and built to withstand a 732 kg/m² live load.

Hatches for roof access - Bilco UK Ltd

Hatches supplied by Bilco are providing access to roofs of a new waterside development of apartments and townhouses in Glasgow. The external finishes combine render, timber laminate, brick cladding and red brick and all the homes have aluminium rooms. Topping them all are Bilco hatches which provide access to the roof for future maintenance not just for the immediate surface, but also of the roof-mounted aerials and satellite dishes. The company has supplied a total of 24 NB50 hatches manufactured in 2.3mm thick aluminium to match the roofing and fitted with compression springs which make them easy to open. They are also fitted with automatic hold-open arms which ensure the hatches cannot be blown closed.

Grass covered smoke ventilators - Bilco UK Ltd

Grass-covered smoke ventilators have been designed for the Cliffs of Moher Visitor Centre, Ireland. The Bilco SS-50C plate construction hatches had to be modified to include 80mm turf trays for the eco-friendly building, as well as 24V DC motors and compression spring mechanisms which ensure that the motors are not subjected to heavy compression loads from vehicles and visitors.

Bilco Type acdSH Units - Bilco UK Ltd

The Unicorn Theatre specialises in producing some of the very best in performing arts for children. Bilco supplied two steel quad leafed acoustic smoke vents, designed to provide a barrier against both noise generated inside and outside the auditoria, while at the same time providing emergency smoke venting in a fire situation. In addition these vents can be used for fresh air and comfort ventilation. Bilco Type acdSH units are fitted with 24vdc thermolatches linked to a fusible link which provides failsafe smoke ventilation by releasing the covers when the temperature reaches 74?c. In addition, solenoids are installed which will open the unit in the event of an emergency via a signal received from the smoke alarm system. The vents are also equipped with interior and exterior release cables to enable the covers to be opened manually. The company?s smoke vents come in a range of sizes to suit a variety of applications spanning concert halls and commercial premises through to high-rise housing and hospitals. There is also a range of fully automatic REM smoke vents which can be triggered in an emergency by a wide range of devices ? typically a smoke detector linked to a dedicated battery backup control panel. Alternatively the smoke vents can be wired directly into a building?s management system.

Safe access for the NHS - Bilco UK Ltd

Roof access hatches from Bilco have been installed at the Barts and London NHS Trust's new Pathology and Pharmacy building. The company supplied two Type D aluminium hatches; one measuring 2.5m by 5m and the other measuring 2m by 4m. Both of the products are double leaf and hinged on their longer edges to provide a safe method of access. They also have a counter balanced compression spring mechanism to provide one-person operation.

Safety for the students - Bilco UK Ltd

Residents at Queen Mary, University of London, are being protected by automatic smoke vents from access door and vents manufacturer, Bilco. Some 14 double leaf Lumivent automatic smoke vents were specified for the Westfield Student Village. A pitch style design, it minimises burning embers settling on the cover and have enhanced thermal insulation. Multi-wall polycarbonate covers maximise light transmittance while limiting solar heat gain. Each vent offers a vent area of 2.23m with the product activated by a fire alarm interface and break glass system. The system can be reset remotely by a switch with the company's smoke vents acting as 'stand alone' units.

Designed to vent smoke and noxious fumes from a burning building, improving visibility and allowing optimum access to exits, the REM automatic smoke ventilator comes from Bilco UK. The automatic opening can be triggered by a variety of methods, from a manual fireman?s switch to a smoke detector or thermostat. To ensure failsafe operation, the actuating system is a double 24V linear motor. For high levels of efficiency, the REM ventilator is positioned at the head of the stairway, liftshaft or on an industrial roof and the hatch is unobstructed with louvres and the like, offering easy access to the roof for maintenance to services or the roof itself.
