Housing scientific collections acquired by Oxford University over the past 300 years, its Museum of Natural History features a central court occupied by the exhibits. When the central court?s flagstone floor became worn the Museum?s administrators decided that the area should be carpeted to protect the stones. After considering various options, the Museum chose nile brown from Tandus? Explorer range. A pointillist design, the carpet features pindots of different shades of brown and grey, complementing the Museum?s internal d?cor. Explorer is the company?s biggest selling range, with 16 solution dyed colourways, constructed as a multi-colour loop-pile design in 1/13 gauge. The company claims that it provides appearance retention and resistance to fading, an important consideration for the museum as its central court features a glass roof which lets in natural daylight. It is available as graphtex, pvc tile or, as used by the Oxford Museum of Natural History, 2m pvc backed sheet.
