Compact and eco- friendly - Devi (UK) |
Building on its reputation as a provider of efficient underfloor heating solutions, DEVI is launching the Danfoss range of air source heat pumps.
The product supplies heating and hot water simultaneously, helping building owners to enhance their 'green' credentials and more than halve their energy costs.
For every unit of energy used to extract heat from the air, a Danfoss Air source heat pump produces at least three units of energy. As they use renewable energy and produce no emissions, they offer a very sustainable and environmentally friendly form of heating.
With a compact footprint of around half a square metre, the Danfoss heat pump range can be installed anywhere where there is an outside wall to site the external air module to extract energy from the air.
This could include rooms such as a kitchen, utility room or garage. It can operate with wet underfloor or modern radiator heating systems.
These heat pumps employ high quality control systems to regulate the supply of heat at source and claim to save up to 15% compared with traditional technology.
At the heart of the heat pump is a scroll compressor. These have fewer moving parts than conventional compressors.

Electric supporter goes on the offensive - Devi (UK) |
In today's cost climate, electric heating beats gas on all counts. This is the view, of Steve McCall of Devi, the electric underfloor heating supplier. He maintains it costs less to install and running costs are lower on an annual lifetime basis.
Using TEHVA, The Electric Heating & Ventilation Association, figures he says electric heating systems cost up to 40% less than wet systems to install because there is no need for gas supplies, pipework, flues, condensate pumps or soakaways. Another reason is that annual safety checks, landlord certificates, servicing and maintenance costs do not apply. TEHVA estimates that electric systems last at least 15 years against 10 for wet.

'Simple' underfloor heating - Devi (UK) |
In an attempt to make the installation of underfloor heating even simpler Devi has introduced its 'devimat'. The product, according to the manufacturer, developed in conjunction with one of Europe's leading adhesive tape manufacturers, Tesa, has an "ultra-strong adhesive".
It can be laid within the thickness of the adhesive rather than being set within a screed making it, Devi says, not only simple to install but also cost-effective. Adhesive is provided on both sides offering even greater security.
Additionally, the cables are fitted with a 100% aluminium sheath connected to earth providing both electrical protection and helping to reduce time of installation and associated costs by removing the need for an earth metallic grid. The mat only adds between 2.3 and 4mm to the height of the floor.

Heating up the warehouse - Devi (UK) |
Underfloor heating from Devi has been supplied to a LondonGreen Developments block of warehouse apartments.
Lengths of deviflex cabling were laid within a 50mm screed. The cabling was then connected to individual thermostats in separate heating areas. Underfloor heating distributes heating evenly without cold spots.

Electric comfort and control - Devi (UK) |
For Palazzio Fine Homes' high specification Ardleigh development in Hackney, Devi's electric underfloor heating was used.
The system is controlled by 'intelligent' devireg 550 thermostats which calculate when the heat must be turned on to have it reach the right temperature at the required time. In the office unit, kitchen and WC areas, devireg 330 DIN rail mounted remote thermostats can provide accurate regulation of the heat.
As there is no requirement of a boiler, maintenance is avoided. Underfloor heating produces only gentle air circulation, reducing the potential amount of travelling dust particles and benefiting those with asthma or allergies.

Floor and room sensor - Devi (UK) |
Featuring a floor sensor and a room sensor in a single unit, Devi's new digital thermostat model, the devireg 535, can regulate all types of room or floor temperatures - or a combination of the two.
The devireg 535 thermostat controls the temperature in the entire house or selected rooms. With the new model, rooms located at some distance from the thermostat have the temperature controlled by the new Electronic Thermal Compensator. A 14 amp relay enables the unit to control floor heating on areas as large as 34m? at 100 W/m?.

Heating up the development - Devi (UK) |
Electric underfloor heating systems from Devi have been applied by Gleeson Homes throughout eight apartments in Twickenham, Surrey.
The direct-acting electric underfloor heating systems were designed, manufactured and installed by Devi and laid into the screed within the apartments. Devireg 540 two-in-one thermostats control the systems by a combination of built-in room and floor temperature sensors and a programmed timer.

Warming to more space - Devi (UK) |
Underfloor heating from Devi has been installed at a new community facility at the Kesgrave Library in Ipswich, Suffolk.
The product was specified as it was considered safe for heating the public area, and means more wall space is available for shelving.
Underfloor heating was installed in a 135m? area, which includes the main library as well as stairwell, lobby, store and toilet areas.
Two types of thermostat are used to control the system in the library and communal areas; both are easy to operate and can be housed securely so only authorised users can access them.

Underfloor heating - Devi (UK) |
Installed at the Chelsea Bridge Wharf in London is Devi's devimat underfloor heating and thermostat control system. Underfloor heating is being installed in bathrooms which have limestone flooring with timer systems ensuring temperatures suit owners' needs and offer an alternative to radiators. It features a single cable 'tail' to connect to the thermostat which removes wires that connect at different ends of the system.

Heating up in the city - Devi (UK) |
Recommended by the M&E consultants for an apartment development in London, a direct acting electric underfloor heating system by Devi was installed into the timber floor construction which is overlaid by carpet, wood veneer flooring and vinyl. The products were specified to allow for free wall space.
The individual areas served by the system, within each apartment, are controlled by devireg 550 thermostats.
These two-in-one thermostats control the heating system based on a combination of temperature - through a built-in room sensor and a floor sensor - and an 'intelligent' programmable timer.
By identifying the rate of heat loss from a room, the devireg 550 knows when to start heating in order to achieve the selected temperature at the right time. This temperature control ensures energy efficiency whilst also providing optimal comfort levels.

Even heat distribution - Devi (UK) |
Offering even heat distribution, Devi has launched the Devicell dry electric underfloor heating system for timber.
Consisting of thin polystyrene and aluminium plates, the product is formed of grooves into which Deviflex heating cable is installed.
The system can be installed on concrete floors or directly on wooden floors without additional preparation.
A low amount of power is required for the desired heat as Devicell dry insulates against the subfloor, reflects heat upwards and locates the heating cables underneath the floor surface.
To ensure total heat coverage, the interlocking dry plates are cut with a saw to fit the shape of the room. Once laid they are covered with noise absorbing material and the floor is installed on top. It is supplied in sets for 2 to 5m areas.

Not so electrifying - Devi (UK) |
Claimed by the company to be the only electric underfloor heating mat to have an integrated full-capped aluminium sheath that complies with IEE Wiring Regulations, the devimat from Devi provides protection against electrocution. This removes concerns about using cables in areas such as wet rooms.
The Regulations call for underfloor heating in wet areas to be sheathed or an earth metallic grid to be placed on the heating mat.
The devimat is high-voltage tested during production. In a separate test, each mat is placed in a water basin for several hours.
The cables have a sheath connected to earth for electrical protection, negating the need for an earth metallic grid. The product adds between 2.3mm to 4mm to the height of the floor.

Through optimal thermal positioning in the screed and a precise temperature control system, DEVI underfloor heating has facilitated the average temperature to be reduced by one to two degrees at The Lock Building, Manchester. This means that energy loss can be reduced up by between 10-20%. Deviflex DSIG-20 cables were used at the building, along with devireg 710 and 550 thermostats.
