British Museum gets cool

Durapipe has been called upon to keep record numbers of visitors cool, when the British Museum houses an exhibition of the Terracotta Army.
This increase in visitor numbers necessitated an upgrade of the current air conditioning system and the installers specified 110m of Durapipe SuperFlo.
Ashley Pusey, project manager, said: 'Unlike steel piping, Durapipe SuperFlo is light and so is easier to lift and control on site. Part of the pipework in this project involves a vertical run, which needed scaffolding to install it. The lightweight system made the installation faster, easier and safer.'

Lightweight pipes can save time on site

An integrated system of pipes, fittings and valves designed for the building services market to meet the needs of chilled and boosted cold water applications has been unveiled by XDurapipe UK.
Called Durapipe SuperFLO, it is claimed to be a robust material which remains ductile down to minus 40?C
One-sixth the weight of steel, the product is easy to handle on site and, coupled with a simple solvent welding technique, it is said to offer significant labour time savings during installation.
A White Solvent Cement has been introduced in order to give an indication that a proper joint has been made between pipe and fitting. Alignment markings on the pipe and fittings help ensure perfect location of fittings is achieved.

Keeping the pipes clean

At a swimming pool complex in New Zealand, Durapipe ABS pipework from 1/2 inch through to eight inch, combined with 250mm and 315mm, was installed for all pool water feed and return lines for the variety of pools across the centre.
The ?5 million development project had hygiene and safety requirements at the forefront when specifying pipework. A product was required that could keep the water clean as it is transported to each of the pools, to ensure safe swimming water for visitors to the complex.
The company worked with its New Zealand distributor, Asmuss Plastic Systems, to offer the pool contractor, Walter J Pratt, several benefits. Pipework supply was a major requirement for the contractor, who requested delivery of the pipework as and when it was needed throughout the project. By providing this service, the company and the distributor offered the contractor a more cost effective solution, as it minimised wastage, as well as the benefit of reacting quickly to problems on site.
