Located on the banks of the river Tyne, The Sage Gateshead, a new home for music in the area, has been constructed with bespoke glazed partitions from FendorHansen. Specified for acoustic performance and good sound separation, the FineLine partitions installed achieve a weighted sound reduction figure of between 48 and 50dB.
As part of a refurbishment at Winchester College Music School a steel framed curtain wall from FendorHansen has been erected. A total of nine separate areas of curtain wall employing the wing shaped Delta profile steel section were supplied. Each screen rising the full 9m of the building elevation, the metallic grey curtain walling enclosed a total area of 350m2.
Steel framed glazed screens from Fendor Hansen have been employed to emphasise the presence of the University of Southampton?s new swimming pool. In addition to fire resistant internal screens, the package involved the 45m long, 4.6m high curtain wall which is able to cope with wind loads and thermal stresses as well as the possibility of heavy impacts. The main curtain is designed to provide a sympathetic view of the pool area from the street. While the entrance lobby and reception were separated by more glazed screens.
Fire rated partitions and screens have been provided by FendorHansen to Faulkner-Browns for the construction of an athletics arena in Sheffield. The FireLine glazed partitions, fronting office areas around the first floor, offer 30min. integrity and insulation to protect staff in
the event of a fire.
Staff working within a new contact centre are being protected from distraction by systems from FendorHansen. The interior layout of the Saga Contact Centre in Ramsgate has been sub-divided by a rooflit winter garden and a line ararrangement of cellular offices that have been created using Slim Line extrusios. These extrusions provide a 40dB weighted sound reduction and, in some circumstances, 1 hr . fire integrity and insulation under BS476. A member of the project?s design team commented: ?This was quite a demanding contract in terms of the performance characteristics demanded from the glazed partitions defining the separate office spaces. While a transparent construction was required to assist with visual communication and to provide a feeling of openness, we also had to achieve high levels of acoustic insulation and fire protection.? Also playing a part in the fitting out of the centre has been the Swing Line system of doors. These both blended in with the screens and matched their physical performance.
