Over 1,000 sheets of High Pressure Laminate (HPL) were supplied for the interiors of the Emirates Stadium. This included Formica Compact for the players' changing rooms and general admission toilet facilities. Formica Compact is said to be suited to high impact and high moisture environments. The Spectrum Red Formica Compact echoes Arsenal's distinctive team colour. Many of the 'back of house' reception desks and print journalists and photographers workstations, along with press desks in the seating bowl, were also fabricated using HPL from Formica bonded to an MDF substrate.

With the aesthetic of natural wood combined with the practicality of laminate, Formica Veneer is a sustainable option incorporating reconstituted real wood veneers derived from fast growing species such as poplar, obeche, basswood and bamboo. They are all sourced from sustainably managed forests. The 30 designs are available in a 2440x1220mm sheet size and have a tactile surface. Two distinct textures have been developed to give each species a complementary and natural look and feel.

Extending the company's existing metallic laminate range, Formica Decometal introductions are said to combine the colour and character of metal surfaces with the lightweight, flexible and practical nature of laminate. The range is claimed to be easy to install, easy to maintain and suitable for vertical applications. Selected designs are available suited to the retail, leisure, entertainment, corporate and domestic environments. Developed in response to research into emerging interior design trends and colours, the collection incorporates four new concepts in multiple colour stylings; Veil, Encode, Twirl and Spin. Chemtop2 from Formica has been installed to provide specially-designed work benching and fume cupboard sections in a refit at the laboratories at Sussex University's Brighton campus. Using specialist papers and incorporating a chemical-resistant coating during manufacture the product is claimed to provide an ideal solution for this type of environment. Recognised for its performance characteristics, Chemtop2 was recently chosen to feature in the Innovation category of the Construction Products Association's Innovation and Achievement Awards. Laminate from Formica has been used in the Habinteg Housing Association's Inclusive Design Showcase at Westwood Park in Bradford. Wisteria, Tobago and Arctic Blue from the Plain Colours range and Table Oak from the Woodgrains range were chosen for use in the bathrooms and kitchens. In the manufacture of bespoke bathroom furniture, laminate was used to create bath panels with a cut out at the base, a matching seat incorporated at the end of the bath, and concealed cistern boxing. It was also used in the kitchen as a splashback, allowing height adjustable cupboards and worktops to move easily.

For a new zoned cafeteria at the Acland Burghley School in North London, the architects specified Formica High Pressure Laminate from its 'Plain Colours' range. Screen-printed in black with specially-commissioned artwork, the laminate was applied on 'feature' walls in the cafeteria. The printed images and colours have been used to identify and sub-brand the different areas or zones within the space. The zones include a snack zone, a diner zone, a bar zone, an internet zone and an outdoor zone. Separate furniture, flooring and lighting treatments allow for further acknowledgement of zonal areas and the architects specified the company's Velour surface finish for the laminates in the designated spaces. The colours of Malibu, Mouse, Spectrum Yellow, Beaujolais, Clementine and Tricia were provided.

Naturelle, a new surface finish designed to enhance the realism and appeal of woodgrains, has been added to the Formica high pressure laminate range. Introduced as part of the 'Range Additions 2006', Naturelle has been developed to meet the demand for both visual and tactile qualities in surfaces. Its matt, low gloss appearance corresponds to that of smoothly planed, oiled or wax treated wood.

Expanding its collection, Formica has unveiled its new range of high pressure laminates, including plain colour patterns and woodgrains, incorporating new textures and surface effects. Two new surface textures have been added; MicroDot - a low sheen, satin finish with concave circles, and Naturelle - a soft, dry-wax look. New colours range from neutrals to brights, pinks to purples, like acidic 'Neon Yellow' or calm 'Organic Green', and they reflect the current colour tendencies, soothing and bright tones. Woodgrains like 'Natural Bamboo' offer a new exoticism alongside classic styles like 'Patina Pine'. Optical effects in new patterns include 'Plastique', a three dimensional shifting colour scheme. Overall, 90 new laminates are in the range for the 2006 collection.
