Gerflor has quiet success

Gerflor offers a comprehensive range of acoustic vinyl flooring products which combine acoustic sound insulation properties of up to 19 dB with comfort, hygiene, performance and aesthetics, says the firm. Gerflor's Taralay range of multi-layered flooring provides a range of acoustic comfort levels. The range is treated with Sanosol, an antibacterial and fungicidal treatment, and incorporates Protecsol surface treatment, which eliminates the need for polish, says the manufacturer. Gerflor's Nera Comfort Wood also offers good sound insulation of 18 dB.

Safety comes first in a host of sectors

Vinyl safety flooring manufacturer, Gerflor offers solutions for a variety of sectors. The company's Tarasafe range comprises eight products, which provide underfoot slip resistance, hygiene, performance and aesthetics, says the firm. Tarasafe's dense construction and deep inlay of carborundum particles provide permanent slip resistance, making it HSE compliant and ensuring a group T wear rating. Sanosol anti-bacterial and fungicidal treatment is incorporated in all products and some also feature SparClean surface treatment for resistance to soiling and staining. The flexibility of Tarasafe offers easy installation and coving while hot welding is simple for a water impervious finish. The Taradouche shower system is a complete solution for the shower room.

Sustainable sports centre

Cranfield University recently constructed a new sports centre which was designed to be as sustainable as possible. One of the key specifications was Gerflor's Taraflex Sport M Plus, a natural-feel floorcovering which is highly durable Roy Chamberlain, the university's sports facility manager explains the criteria for choosing the flooring: "We carefully chose the flooring for its high-performance and low-maintenance qualities, as well as its ability to be used for other purposes than sport." This was put to the test when the Graduation ceremony and ball were held in the hall, subjecting it to thousands of stiletto heels! Roy added that sustainable credentials were crucial: "The flooring had to meet the credentials for sustainability as well as performance requirements for shock absorption and dimensional stability." The product combines CXPTM double-density foam backing with multi-layer D-Max and Protecsol surface treatment.

Inspiring Impression

A new 10-strong Taralay Impression range of colourful vinyl flooring has been developed by Gerflor. Impression range comprises of colours in various finishes and textures including Uni for solid colours, Diversion for 'spotty' colour, Oxygen for the 'bubble' look and Organic which emulate pebbles. The ethos of the new range is to create high quality, exciting feature floors where, previously, there may have been limitations.

Hospital earns its stripes

In order to distinguish the Southampton NHS Treatment Centre, located in a refurbished floor of South Hants Hospital, from the rest of the unit, bold designs in gerflor vinyl was chosen by the architects. Quorum Partnership chose Taralay Impression chromatics striped flooring for the main reception, and colourful ranges have been used elsewhere. "Strong definition colourways" were key, to accent main corridors, offices and waiting areas for users. Ranges used included Taralay Uni Comfort, Initial, Mipolam, and Nera.
