Manufacturer of doors and window control systems, Geze UK and British supplier of movable doors, Duvale, have struck a parternship deal which looks set to raise the profile of both brands and drive sales.

Smooth operator

An automatic underfloor operator has been launched by Geze. The TSA 160 UFO electro-hydraulic operator unit is designed for buildings with glass fa?ades. It is waterproofed to IP64 and allows for DDA compliance in accordance with BS8300. Capable of operating door leaves of up to 120kgs in weight, it offers tamper resistance.

Framed by a small canopy, a Slimdrive SCR from Geze has been fitted into the facade of an office development in City Square, Liverpool.
The company was specified for three projects in the city centre where it is providing door and window control systems. At City Square the system was installed within planar glazing to a double height staff entrance lobby.

Marine entrance is ship-shape

Shaped to reflect a ship's bow, Sunderland Marine Mutual specified a system by Geze to achieve a marine themed entrance at their headquarters in Durham.
The company designed and fitted three sliding glass doors to form a triangle to the main entrance, using the latest technology to bolt automatic door operators to glass.
By working with sub-contractors, Solaglas, the system was integrated efficiently, and the two company's have worked together before on several similar projects.
A design solution was offered that featured automatic doors with minimal framing, to suit the style of the overall build.

Learning curve

Helping create a spacious lobby in a renovated office in the Mayfair area of London, a control system from Geze has enabled the inclusion of a curved 'feature door' in the entrance area. The company's SC curved slider is concealed into the ceiling to improve the aesthetic of the curved doors. With a smooth operation, the 70mm high Slimdrive SC was selected as it can be fitted inconspicuously.

Chelsea opens new doors

A door closer by Geze has been supplied for a Chelsea Flower Show garden design. The company was approached by Timber Design, which constructed the summerhouse on the project and provided a TS550 Floor Spring to ensure the glass door opened smoothly with a control mechanism.
A single strap hinge holds the door in place and the door is balanced by way of the strap with a small window in the front elevation. Features on the product include adjustable closing force, closing speed control and a backcheck facility.

Lobbying for temperature maintenance

Maintaining the temperature in the front and rear lobbies at St John Rigby College in Wigan are bespoke door control products by Geze.
In the main entrance, the circular design required a bespoke heater to be added to the company's Slimdrive SCR automatic door control in order that the temperature remained constant and comfortable for the college's receptionists.
There was also two Slimdrive SL's fitted to the rear entrance, creating a lobby where one door opens at a time, saving energy by preventing cool air coming quickly in from outside or from cool air going out if the air conditioning is on. The units incorporate into the area with minimum intrusion into the glass fa?ade.

Door and window control manufacturer Geze has re-affirmed its commitment to safety within the industry by becoming a member of the SAFEcontractor scheme.
The company became accredited to the programme, operated by the National Britannia Group, after undergoing a vetting process which looked at the company's health and safety procedures as well as its history of safe practice.
Companies meeting the necessary requirements are included on a database which is accessible to registered users through a website.

Glass fittings suitable for use with toughened and laminated glass have been launched by Geze. The MGG, mono solid glass system can be used on single and double action door systems - internal and external - as well as manually operated sliding doors and partition and lining walls. Facilitating 'touchless' activation, Geze has introduced a new door control system designed to help prevent the spread of 'superbugs' such as MRSA.
Airwave is a wave sensor which can be mounted on or behind glass and has the advantage of not needing to be touched to open an automatic door. This makes it suitable for hospitals or food preparation areas where infections and germs can be spread through physical contact.
With its ability to operate at a range of up to 10cm, the Airwave can reduce contamination in sterile environments.
The device is designed to offer reliable operation, and features 'wipe clean' plates as well as a high visibility 'white light' LED with 11 custom settings.
In order for it to comply with DDA regulations, the Airwave also provides high impact visual and audible signals in order for it to be suitable for almost any environment.

Withstanding the heat

Withstanding more than five hours of fire testing, the Geze Boxer achieve this during testing at Warrington Fire Research centre, the company claims.

Supplying an entrance system to the University of Oxford's Chemical Research Building, Geze has provided a 360? glass vestible which forms an enclosed lobby to the building.
The company's Slimdrive SCR Curved Sliding Door Asembly was employed in the main part of the entrance, using door leaves and drum walls formed from Slim Profile sections glazed with 10.8mm clear laminated safety glass.
A stainless steel floor track section set beneath the floor level guides the doors in a semi-circle and a 70mm high drive unit concealed above soffit panels allows the door panels to run to full height.
The entrance system contains a battery back-up to ensure a means of escape should the power fail, as well as ultrasonic presence detectors within the soffit panels, activation mode detectors, and an electro-mechanical locking system.

Parked at the bus station

Installed and provided by Geze, a range of slimdrive SL automatic door drive systems were specified for aesthetic appeal to Sheffield Interchange bus station.
Thirty-two Slimdrive SL bi-parting operators were also used to control aluminium framed door leaves and pocket screens throughout the station. Induction loop activators were fitted below the concrete concourse too.
