Glass won't break its promise

Glass UK Glass won't break its promiseUsing the Uvekol resin system from Cytec, Glass UK is able to offer toughened glass in extremely large sizes, and for applications where previously glass would not be considered. The glass laminating system enables glass to be bent to achieve dramatic architectural features which, Cytec claims, would be extremely difficult if using pvb. The laminates also offer high sound absorption and safety and security performance. Glass UK has applied Uvecol laminated glass in a number of unusual applications including security glass cases in museums, toughened glass staircases and special architectural features and monuments.

Glass UK Specialist processor Glass UK has helped in the creation of an internal glass staircase for a three-storey town house in Kensington, London - in just 10 weeks from design to completion. Being rather tall and narrow, with little natural light, the middle of the building features the glass staircase to act as a prism and radiate light throughout the house. The staircase rises through all four storeys of the house.

Musician calls the tune

Glass UK Musician calls the tuneLarge sheets of glass with double doors set into them have been provided by Glass UK for the home of a famous musician. The project called for a 3.2m by 3m glass 'goal posts' on three sides of a bay in the lounge area of the luxury house, and a door frame had to be cut within the glass to hang a full set of integrated bronze doors. The fact that the glass had to be seamless posed some logistical problems, but these were overcome by Glass UK who made a lifting jig to get it off the table at the glass producers. As a finishing touch, fibre optic lights are used to turn the glass blue at night.
