Essex Electrical has used Hager distribution boards to provide both circuit protection and a simple energy saving control for Tesco's new Homeplus stores.
Typically each store has a panelboard with income of either 400A or 630A. This then feeds up to 12 sub-distribution boards, most of which are TP&N but with some SP&N boards
The electrical distribution at the UK's largest Christmas show was installed using Hager panelboards. All the sub distribution for the museum and theatre lighting at the Thursford in Norfolk is currently supplied by Invicta boards. Outgoing ways of up to 250A provide circuit protection for theatre lighting and power.
16 strand LD90 24 channel 2kW dimmers control the lighting. Hager relays switch these TP&N power supplies at staggered intervals to avoid a mains surge in the plant room. Indicators in the extension boxes show if there is a problem.
For a lighting control system at Tesco's new distribution centre, Hulse Electrical has used Hager's Tebis bus system.
A busbar system supplies power to the 340 lighting circuits. The Tebis bus line is a twisted pair cable that runs around the installation in a loop. Lighting circuits and switches are connected to the bus system via both output and input devices.
After installing the bus line, a PC activated the system. This involved assigning both switches and circuit addresses and then programming the system so that certain circuits only respond to certain switches. These can be expanded in the future without any new cabling. The system can also supply additional control options.
Available in either DSI or DALI versions, two new Klik digital occupancy sensors from Hager combine lighting control in response to occupancy and daylight levels with manual override using a wall switch.
Used in conjunction with the Klik DCS marshalling box, the new sensors allow connection to a standard wall mounted retractive switch. The company claims that automatic control in response to presence and daylight minimises energy costs. Providing a wall switch for additional local dimming and switching control gives the end user added flexibility.
A hand held remote control sets the required lighting levels and programmes the sensors with different control options, such as off delay.
Designed for quick installation and improved aesthetics, Hager has introduced a new consumer unit. The company has improved installation thanks to a removable top wall and the inclusion of features to simplify fixing, cabling and internal fitting, while curved lines and a neutral Magnolia colour make the unit more attractive.
As a fast fit lighting installation for Arsenal's new Emirates Stadium, Hager's Klik LDS has been used.
Each marshalling box only needs wiring once, at the first fix, and every one is supplied with the Klik plug already attached. Boxes can supply either one lighting circuit, or by removing a copper link, two circuits. Emergency fittings also plug into the system.
New wiring accessories have been launched by Hager. The range of Ashley IP66 products are easy to install and durable, the company claims.
The Weather Plus range is compact with sockets deliberately set high in the unit so that the lid will close and seal over a plug with a moulded cord grip. Illuminated wide rockers on the wall switches are easy to use in the dark.
Durability is achieved with no metal hinges or springs to rust and the lid will not break if it is over extended. Neoprene seals maintain the accessory's integrity since they do not stick together or need replacing. They also do not stain the cable.
Installation involves the rear box being mounted on a vertical wall before fixing the unit into place. Knockouts on the top, side or bottom of the box give a choice of cable entry. These can be knocked out for a 20mm conduit or drilled.
Contractor Lorne Stewart has specified Hager's Klik DCS to meet the daylight linking lighting control specified by the DVLA for the refurbishment of it's Swansea headquarters.
The system is based on a marshalling box with either 4,6,8 or 10 outgoing ways and occupancy sensors that incorporate daylight linking. Each box provides flexibility to control either one lighting circuit or by removing a copper link. Both normal and emergency digital light fittings plug into the box with the cable supplying power and data in one connection. The sensors provide automatic lighting control and combine the occupancy sensing and the daylight control.
Contractor's UK Electrical Installations is using Hager's Tebis TS bus system to offer an energy saving solution for Staples retail outlets. For the retail area a combination of a master switch and timers control the lighting. In the backroom and staff areas PIR movement detectors control lighting and heating. The ongoing rollout programme will cover almost all 140 stores nationwide.
Designed to accept any manufacturers data modules, Hager has launched a new range of Euro standard data face plates for its Ashley New Look range. Featuring a distinctive wedge shaped profile, the new face plates are available in one and two gang options. For durability, the plates have a thermoplastic construction.
