Helvar to release new 558 Dimmer - Helvar Merca Ltd

Following its showcase at the ISE show in January, Helvar says it will release the new 458 Dimmer in late spring. The eight channel inductive dimmer, complete with LCD display and intuitive cursor control, comes in a compact, pre-wired, wall-mountable unit for maximum convenience and versatility.

Lighting control at University of Southampton - Helvar Merca Ltd

The University of Southampton has installed Helvar's Digdim System in nearly 30 lecture theatres. The system is said to provide easy-to-use lighting control for lectures and presentations. ballasts - Helvar Merca Ltd

Designed for use with compact lamps, Helvar has launched the new EL-TCs range of small and efficient high performance ballasts. The products can be incorporated into low profile luminaire designs. With the company's Optimum Cathode Control technology, the ballasts are able to offer reduced energy consumption by ensuring that the electrical parameters supplied to each lamp are at the optimum level. Each of the four ballasts in the EL-TCs range have the same dimensions, 103.5mm by 67mm by 28mm. Multi-lamp functionality is provided from the products with single and twin lamp operation, and all lamp wattages from 9W to 42W operated using four ballasts.

Control is the key for new experience - Helvar Merca Ltd

Recently completed at the headquarters of Aurora is the Aurora Lighting Experience (ALEX) which uses a lighting control scheme provided by Helvar. The design concept behind ALEX is to show the effect lighting can create as part of an interior design scheme. Acting as the hub of the lighting control system for ALEX, the Imagine product by Helvar provides a 3000 channel system with 4000 lighting schemes. Programming and setting up with the system is achieved through a PC Windows-based interface that monitors all aspects of the lighting system, which includes 170 lighting circuits and a Helvar touchscreen to control individual lighting scenes.

Miniatures cast in a protective light - Helvar Merca Ltd

Lighting control equipment from Helvar is playing an integral part in the new lighting scheme for the Miniature Gallery at the Victoria & Albert Museum, London. The gallery contains some 150 portrait miniatures on display in 17 cases, and Helvar's DIGIDIM system has enabled the illumination of the miniatures without risking damage to the exhibits. The gallery tells the story of the portait miniature in Britain, from its first appearancve in the 1520s to its decline with the emergence of photography. As the miniatures are sensitive to light, infrared sensors are used to operate the lighting only when the exhibits are being viewed. When cases are approached, the lights increase from 10 lux to a maximum of 50 lux, gradually dimming back down after four minutes.

Installed at the White Horse gastro-pub in Harpenden is a Digidim lighting control from Helvar. It provides control of light levels to ensure the appropriate ambience for different meal times. Within the restaurant are downlights and wall lights as well as two chandeliers. Lights in the bar and lounge are also controlled by the system. The DALI communication protocol doesn't have a central controller as all intelligence is distributed.

Scene set - Helvar Merca Ltd

Designed to provide a functional illumination of the retail space, a controlled lighting scheme by Helvar has the ability to produce effect lighting and scenes. The light-strip - runs the entire length of the shop - is controlled by 164 ballasts subdivided into 12 groups and four colours. Over 80 lighting scenes are programmed and combined. The router for the system is capable of accessing up to 4000 lighting scenes and combining them with one another.

Express delivery at hotel - Helvar Merca Ltd

Employed at Holiday Inn Express in Leicester, Helvar has provided its new 'Solutions' - a one-stop dimmer cabinet design service. Equipment from the company has been used to control the lighting in the main ground areas. The company's DIGIDIM system with a Solutions Cabinet and a single Control Panel was selected to form the lighting control system. They govern a mixture of low voltage spotlights and low energy PL-type downlighters. The product is delivered pre-configured to work straight away to ensure time-saving on installation. It allows the flexibility for different light settings to be employed at different times of the day, from a bright setting in the morning to a more subdued level at night-time.
