Colours for a tranquil unit - ICI Dulux Trade

DDA requirements and the psychological effects of colour were taken into account by ICI Paints when developing colour schemes for a mentally disordered offenders unit in Kent. The dull unit was transformed into a calming therapeutic atmosphere. Dulux Trade Diamond Matt finish paint was specified for the walls and schemes were devised which avoided colours that could be seen as over stimulating or difficult to live. Calming tones of green and blue were chosen and the product is said to have offered the required durability. Dulux trade colour consultants were heavily in the project in order that residents will have respect for the surroundings and by helping to develop a more inviting, softer feel.

Ensuring a royal welcome - ICI Dulux Trade

Products from Dulux Trade have been used throughout The Royal Court Development in St Peter Port for the States of Guernsey. The site is being developed to provide modern accommodation for the administration of justice in the Bailiwick and involves a mix of refurbishment and new-build. Driving out the vandalism - ICI Dulux Trade

One of Slough's main car parking facilities has been supplied with ICI Dulux Trade's Anti-Grafitti and Pyroshield paints for a refurbishment project. Areas painted using the company's Anti-Graffiti system resist permanent marking from acts of vandalism. Any marks can be washed off with an Anti-Graffiti remover. In addition, Pyroshield upgrades previously painted surfaces to Class 1 or Class O, delaying the initial stages of flame spread when vehicle owners may still be making their way to safety. The flame retardant coating system is water-based, quick drying and low odour as well as being free from hazardous materials.

Treating the timber cladding - ICI Dulux Trade

Classroom blocks at Saint Benedict Catholic School in Derby have been applied with paints from Dulux Trade. The timber-clad buildings have been treated with Weathershield Aquatech Opaque in a choice of light and dark violet/blue shades from the Weathershield Colour range, to paint the cladding and details such as handrails, balustrades, fascias and soffits. Additionally the Window Care Repair System was employed to restore the cracked and damaged timber windows. These were then repainted using the Weathershield Exterior Gloss System. Using these two systems eliminated the need for any window replacements.

Flexible film - ICI Dulux Trade

Tests run by the Paint Research Association claim that Dulux Trade's Weathershield Woodstain Advanced Protection paint developed a more flexible film over time, resulting in less peeling and cracking. Part of a large scale maintenance programme, the Progress Housing Group is protecting its housing stock with products from the Dulux Trade Weathershield range. The company's Weathershield All Seasons Masonry paint, Opaque Advanced Protection, and the Weathershield Exterior Gloss were all used to protect the exterior masonry and woodwork of the housing block. Interior woodcare products from Dulux Trade have been applied to 17 luxury homes as part of a development in Devizes. The hardwearing lacquer has been used on wooden flooring throughout The Mews development. The development involves the conversion of a hospital into three or four bedroom homes. The company's Diamond Glaze product has been applied to finish the properties pitch pine flooring. The product was supplied in a honey coloured timber and protects the floor by withstanding heavy traffic over a long period. It was also specified as its quick drying properties were necessary for the short-time period of construction. The product is a high durability, medium build, water-based lacquer. It is suitable for high wear interior wood surfaces and can be applied by a brush or roller with a potential re-coat in two to four hours.

Maintenance saved at QPR after defensive performance - ICI Dulux Trade

Queens Park Rangers' Loftus Road stadium is being defended from the elements by Dulux Trade Metalshield following the redecoration of the Ellerslie Road Stand. The seven week project to repaint the roof's steel structure followed the failure, over time, of the previous gloss coating. Employing 'barrier technology' to lock out air and moisture, Metalshield has been developed to extend protection and therefore increase maintenance cycles. According to Dulux Trade, due to its fast drying times, the three-coat system could be completed in just over one working day. This made savings for QPR as the cost of hiring scaffolding was reduced by the job being completed quickly. A 'QPR Blue' was chosen from Metalshield's tinted range for the project.
