As part of its customer care programme, the Instarmac Group undertakes a periodic health checks on its materials to determine how well they have performed since originally installed.
One recent check, following work carried out in 2004, at Bovington Artmy camp found that two of its bedding and grouting materials have remained intact, in spite of the harsh conditions. The camp is home to more that than 30 multi-terrain heavy-duty training tanks and military vehicles each weighing up to 70 tonnes.
Given the nature of the training the construction materials used at the camp, particularly those for road surfacing, are subject to exceptionally high levels of wear, tear and impact from heavy duty tyres and tank chain tracks.
In 2004, the concrete roadway was found to be deteriorating significantly. Instarmac's high performance mortar and flowable grouting materials, both of which met the specified criteria, were employed in conjunction with granite setts to withstand the demanding conditions. The recent checks revealed that no degradation has since taken place
Floor levelling, smoothing and repair mortars from Instarmac have been launched. The new 'IT' range incorporates two concrete floor repair products and three smoothing underlayment levellers. The two levellers for commercial and residential flooring are 'Protein Free' and can be used with underfloor heating. A third leveller is suitable for industrial flooring with greater durability.
In order to fix natural stone tiles by Floor Heating at their showroom in the Devonshire Business Park, Basingstoke, the company used the Ultra range of floor levelling compounds, adhesives and grouts by Instarmac. The 10mm Fastwarm insulation boards are bonded to the concrete sub-floor with UltraProFlex SP tile adhesive before encapsulating them in Ultra Concrete Floor Leveller.
As part of Toyota's showroom refurbishment, new floor tiling has been applied to sites in Swinton and York using Instarmac materials.
The company's rapid setting UltraProRapid RS adhesive fixed the floor tiles as well as providing bond strength. UltraFloorGrout was used to grout between the joints and is formulated for widths of 1mm to 20mm
Reinstating failing road surface ironwork units in areas such as Essex and Oxfordshire, Instarmac is applying its Ironwork Reinstatement System. Ultracrete PY4 was used to bed the ironwork with Ultracrete PY5, which forms a flowable consistency suitable for filling, bonding and securing. The products have rapid strength gain and good tensile strength. They can be trafficked within 40mins of installation.
Replacing lost volume in potholes in the West Midlands is Ultracrete instant road repair (IRR) from Instarmac, which is now carried by mobile incident support units in the area. It is formulated to withstand the rigours of traffic and is designed to stay in place until a more permanent repair can be undertaken.
