Winning the Andy Swan award 2006 - sponsored by the Insulated Render and Cladding Association - for the best use of external wall insulation for private houses is The Lower Mill Estate, Somerford Keynes.
Situated on a former quarry pit, the estate is a 450 acre development of waterside holiday homes. The architect needed an external finish which met with NHBC approval and thermal efficiency requirements under Building Regulations. Incorporating 65mm EPS insulation, the Permarock system was used in conjunction with thermalite blockwork to achieve a u-value of 0.30 W/m?K.
Vineyard Heights in Richmond-upon-Thames has won the Insulated Render and Cladding Association Andy Swan 2005 Awards for refurbishment of private apartments. Some 2400m? of MR Swisstherm external wall insulation from Alumasc was specified, with 80mm EPS boards over-coated in a weather protective Silkolitt render that is fire safe with an acoustic performance.
Employing as much high specification glass as possible, whilst complying with Part L, the NV Buildings, Dock 9,Manchester has won the Andy Swan Awards 2005, sponsored by the Insulated Render and Cladding Association. The system employed was the StoTherm classic external wall insulation, including 90mm of EPS insulation, on the solid areas.
