Setting the right tone for office move

Interface Europe Ltd Setting the right tone for office moveMore than 9,100m of InterfaceFLOR products were specified for the relocation of operations for a leading communications manufacturer. The project, which saw Motorola move its EMEA headquarters and engineering from central Basingstoke to an out-of-town business park, took the company to a site comprising two three-storey buildings housing offices, break-out areas and meeting rooms. Following a presentation by the company Maris Interiors, contracted by Motorola, selected three products: Entropy; Heuga 731; and Tirex. The main offices were fitted with 8,100m of Entropy, in the Protean colourway. The product is designed with non-directional installation in mind, meaning it can be laid randomly, resulting in heavily reduced installation waste.

Reflecting light and space for design specification

Interface Europe Ltd Reflecting light and space for design specificationCarpets from Interface have been specified for the new UK office of Marriott Hotels International in London. The interior designer, Jocelyn Evelegh, was responsible for providing a design specification for 8000m of floorspace. Colours were used which would reflect rather than absorb light, especially in the open plan spaces, as there was limited natural light in the building. This meant that a fairly pale colour with a small pattern for the carpet tiles was chosen. In order to fulfil the project requirements, the company's New England design was selected. The tiles were hardwearing which was important considering the heavy traffic throughout the building. Within the carpeted areas the designs incorporated the red Marriott logo.

Interface Europe Ltd Some 6,000m? of floor covering in Terminal 2 at Birmingham International airport has been replaced with carpet tiles from Interface. Key requirements of the floor covering were for a random pattern to help reduce the impact of stains and dirt while also giving scale to the large open areas of carpeting. To meet this criteria, the Interface I?, Inspiration Squared collection of random, non-directional products was chosen as the most appropriate. The company's design service then created a selection of schemes in conjunction with the project architects. This resulted in the selection of Interface's Entropy concept for the main areas, with some overprinted Palette 2000 used as a feature carpet to define the gate areas. With no two tiles the same, Entropy carpet tiles can be laid without worrying about matching patterns or pile direction.

Interface Europe Ltd Providing the exact colour and texture required, Interface Menagerie carpet tiles have been employed as part of a two-tone interior at the new flagship store of Stillfield, an ladies shoe boutique in Surrey. The tiles are part of a scheme designed by Graham Kett of Keton. Kett?s scheme uses light and dark neutral finishes, divided by an illuminated glass shelf between wall panels and bulkheads. The ?caramel? Menagerie tiles also curve up the walls and, in all, some 68m2 of the floorcovering was laid. Originally a broadloom carpet had been sought but it proved difficult to find a heavy contract grade in a suitable colour. Offering a choice of 24 colours, both bold and subtle, Menagerie tiles provide a broadloom appearance while the depth and feel of the pile and backing has the right ?bounce? for customers as they walk around trying on shoes. Stillfield wanted to avoid the interior looking like a municipal office, and believe no customer will realise that the flooring is not a broadloom carpet.
