Security is added to style

The Clifton softwood doorset is the latest addition to the JELD-WEN range.
It is said to be one of the first volume produced timber French casement doorsets to achieve a PAS 24, which means it is available as a Secured by Design option for developers that recognise the value of enhanced security.
Engineered from knot-free clear timber with a robust 54mm door leaf thickness for enhanced security and thermal performance the doorsets are available in five styles. They are supplied with a timber preservative system and a choice of performance-enhancing base stain or full factory finishing.

Windows you can trust

Jeld-Wen, the timber window manufacturer has achieved the BSI Kitemark under the TWA (Timber Window Accreditation) Scheme for its factory finished and glazed timber windows. The symbol shows that a product has been independently tested by BSI to conform to the relevant British Standards.

New three door-leaf wellington

The new three door-leaf Wellington by Jeld-Weld creates a feeling of light and space in the home and offers full opening access to the garden or patio area. The model is available as a 44mm sofwood sliding folding door in three standard sizes; 1800mm, 2100mm and 2400mm.
The Wellington can suit any size of house and folds away to maximize the amount of available space. Window service launched

The 'huge popularity' of Canberra sliding doors has led Jeld-Wen to launch a bespoke sizing option the company confirmed. The service will allow customers to select any size of the sliding folding patio door up to a width of 4200mm.
The product is also available with the option of decorative fret glazing in a 'variety of attractive colours'. "The possibilities are endless with our bespoke sizing option," remarked Tony Pell, product manager at the company.

The trend to build more townhouses and apartments requiring winder stair flights has led to Jeld-Wen developing an improved demountable balustrade system.

Acoustic windows meet the challenge

Following rigorous testing of its timber windows range Jeld-Wen says it now has 'extensive test evidence' to support acoustic performance for more than 50 of its timber window products.
Tony Pell, the company's product manager, said: "Acoustics is becoming increasingly important as part of planning requirements (PPG3) and Building Regulations. The fact that we have test evidence to support our Stomsure, Vertical Sliding Sash and Hi-profile Combi ranges gives specifiers greater confidence that our windows meet with requirements for sound reduction. A high performance building with good noise control built in is a more attractive proposition and is now a major selling point in a property."
The construction of the company's acoustic window consist of a double glazed unit with two glass panes, one laminated with a specialised PVB layer.

The doors, which can be specified as a pre-hung doorset, are offered with 1.52m stiles. All feature raised and fielded panels to, the company says, "enhance their decorative style and distinctiveness".

Sailing light

In order to maximise natural light into an internal space, Jeld-Wen's Canberra patio doors provided a solution at a property in Chichester. It was specified in a Baltic Oak finish to complement the nautical theme of the property. Available in two fully finished stains or a white painted finish, it can be specified in two to six leaves. Raising the standard for stairs

With more apartments than houses planned for private and social housing developments for the first time, there is a strong demand for products to meet the technical standards required of these communal areas.
Responding to this demand, Jeld-Wen has developed a new communal timber staircase that meets with all relevant British Standards.
The company offers two styles of staircase, a traditional stair with decorative handrail and a more contemporary design to suit the modern apartment.
New guidance from the BWF (British Woodworking Federation) states that communal stairs must meet specific standards in relation to the strength and weight bearing of the flight and the handrail or banister. Jeld-Wen claims to be one of the few manufacturers with test evidence to meet these standards and believes the market for timber stairs will continue to grow.

Testing times

In partnership with Bodycote warringtonfire, Jeld-Wen has invested in a new centre which will provide environmental and mechanical testing as well as being home to its European research and development centre.
The UKAS-accredited centre, based in Sheffield, will be staffed and managed by Bodycote warringtonfire and will undertake a variety of British and European standard fitness for purpose tests for UK door and window manufacturers. This will include security, weather performance, product stability performance and thermal insulation.

Members of the British Woodworking Federation and its TWA Scheme will benefit from a new UKAS-accredited testing centre which has been opened by Jeld-Wen.

Inlaid veneer doors

Incorporating designs reminiscent of marquetry-style furniture, Jeld-Wen has introduced a new range of inlaid veneer doors.
Complementing the trend for classic styling in the home, the new range comprises a choice of three natural veneered doors in ash, American cherry and white oak.

Shaking up the style range

Supplying timber doors and windows in the UK, Jeldwen is strengthening its collection by launching a brand new range of doors in the Shaker style.
Featuring in Travis Perkins and Keyline's latest range of products, the clean and simple lines of Shaker furniture and architecture have inspired the creation of the Shaker range.
Available in either pre-finished or unfinished models, these internal doors are manufactured in veneer-faced hardwood and also have certified FSC approval. Doors in the range feature either one or four panel options, and are available in either pre-glazed or solid versions.
