Doors & windows manufacturer Jeld-Wen will be showcasing an extensive range of sustainable and energy efficient external joinery solutions at Ecobuild. The company will be demonstrating its new Hi Profile Combi window and its energy efficient doorsets to increase thermal efficiency.

Leading timber door manufacturer Jeld- Wen has expanded its tri fold 'Wellington' patio door range to enable developers to make the most of natural light in their properties. This sliding folding door is now available in a choice of unfinished hardwood and fully finished softwood designs. Manufactured from FSC Chain of Custody certified timber, the patio doors can be fully opened to give optimum access to the garden, and can be folded away to make the best use of space. For the convenience of a finished door, the softwood version is supplied in a hi-build white finish with a 10 year guarantee.

The Wood Window Alliance (WWA) has received a major boost in the form of backing from timber window manufacturer, JELD-WEN. We now have the dedicated facilities and additional capacity to produce over 50 flights a week, and our dedicated teams can ensure delivery within 3-4 weeks. The Clifton softwood doorset is the latest addition to the JELD-WEN range. It is said to be one of the first volume produced timber French casement doorsets to achieve a PAS 24, which means it is available as a Secured by Design option for developers that recognise the value of enhanced security. Engineered from knot-free clear timber with a robust 54mm door leaf thickness for enhanced security and thermal performance the doorsets are available in five styles. They are supplied with a timber preservative system and a choice of performance-enhancing base stain or full factory finishing.

The lippings along the long edges have been removed, which will allow US manufacturer Jeld-Wen to keep the doors at a competitive price, and eliminate the problem of shrinkage and expansion, which has sometimes resulted in hairline cracks appearing between the lipping and the door face. The absence of these cracks will result in a significant improvement in the overall appearance of the installed product. The changes bring the doors in line with much of the European and US door industry.

Jeld-Wen, the timber window manufacturer has achieved the BSI Kitemark under the TWA (Timber Window Accreditation) Scheme for its factory finished and glazed timber windows. The symbol shows that a product has been independently tested by BSI to conform to the relevant British Standards. All Jeld-Wen's softwood timber windows are PEFC Chain of Custody certified, which means they originate from well managed forests where for each tree felled more are replanted.

Door maker JELD-WEN has extended its shaker range with a white primed option and a natural oak finish both of which are said to fit with the trend towards lighter colours in the home. A choice of styles is available in both finishes including four and single panel versions in solid and glazed options.

The new three door-leaf Wellington by Jeld-Weld creates a feeling of light and space in the home and offers full opening access to the garden or patio area. The model is available as a 44mm sofwood sliding folding door in three standard sizes; 1800mm, 2100mm and 2400mm. The Wellington can suit any size of house and folds away to maximize the amount of available space. To enable buyers to finish to their own colour scheme and specifications, the door is supplied base coat stained for staining or painting on site. The panels are supplied with 24mm Low E insulating glass units, meeting the Part L requirements.

Five new external door designs have been launched by Jeld-Wen with the Westbury range. The collection comprises a six panel door, six panel top light, two panel half glazed, a four panel top glazed and a wagon wheel top glazed style. The 'huge popularity' of Canberra sliding doors has led Jeld-Wen to launch a bespoke sizing option the company confirmed. The service will allow customers to select any size of the sliding folding patio door up to a width of 4200mm. The product is also available with the option of decorative fret glazing in a 'variety of attractive colours'. Following rigorous testing of its timber windows range Jeld-Wen says it now has 'extensive test evidence' to support acoustic performance for more than 50 of its timber window products. Tony Pell, the company's product manager, said: "Acoustics is becoming increasingly important as part of planning requirements (PPG3) and Building Regulations. The fact that we have test evidence to support our Stomsure, Vertical Sliding Sash and Hi-profile Combi ranges gives specifiers greater confidence that our windows meet with requirements for sound reduction. In partnership with Bodycote warringtonfire, Jeld-Wen has invested in a new centre which will provide environmental and mechanical testing as well as being home to its European research and development centre. The UKAS-accredited centre, based in Sheffield, will be staffed and managed by Bodycote warringtonfire and will undertake a variety of British and European standard fitness for purpose tests for UK door and window manufacturers.
