A new development off King's Road in Chelsea is set to benefit from a tile support system from Kingspan. The KS1000 system is a composite panelling system which provides a thermally efficient platform for the installation of traditional tiles. Quick installation and instant waterproofing is key, said the project architects, along with good response times.

A new build sports complex at a community school in Dagenham, Essex features Kingspan Structural Product's Multichannel4 which was specified in the place of hot-rolled steel to provide wind-bracing for the new structure. Multichannel4 is a range of cold formed channel sections, made at the company's Sherburn manufacturing plant using the latest cold forming techniques. High strength steel 4mm thick is pre-galvanised and can be supplied with pre-engineered end connections to reduce components and simplify detailing. Holes and notches can be drilled at the point manufacture to customer specification which are said to increase both build accuracy and speed.

Harringay's ?8 million Shopping Park is the latest project to use Kingspan's Kingzip standing seam roof system and a wall envelope combining the Optimo and Thermalite wall and facade systems. Kingspan panel systems are claimed to ensure optimum bottom line performance and construction quality, while providing the maximum potential for building design teams to realise their ideas. The panels meet Loss Prevention Certification Board insurer approved specifications and a range of fire engineered approved specifications. The Optimo system is said to be able to be installed up to 50% faster than site assembled, built-up alternatives available.

Specified for its space saving qualities, Kingspan KoolDuct pre-insulated ducting has been chosen for the ?9 million flagship National Science Learning Centre, based at the University of York. The National Science Learning Centre, funded by the Wellcome Trust, has been designed to improve the way science is taught in schools, bringing back excitement and entheusiasm for the subject. Some 2,500m? of the single-fix KoolDuct was employed. It's built-in rigid phelonic insulation offers both fire resistance, with negligable smoke emissions, and moisture resistance.

Developed to cope with the challenges of the most testing of temperature controlled environments, Kingspan Controlled Environments has introduced a new ceiling and wall panel. Suitable for applications where thermal performance and fire resistance is key, the KS1150/1100CS can be applied in food processing, chill or cold storage applications. The panels can be used in internal temperatures as low as -40?C and external temperatures of +40?C to -16?C. They are available in different thicknesses which allow for a range of temperatures to be managed.

Limitations of space made Kingspan Koolduct suitable for refurbishment at Aberdeen University. Some 4000m? of the product was assembled at the fabrication plant. The ducting system was installed in the ceiling voids throughout the building and in the riser ducts on all levels as well as in two plant rooms. It required only a single fix installation and low levels of air leakage with insulating properties provides electrical consumption savings. Ventilation air flows over aluminium surfaces and does not have contact with any material containing loose fibres. Manufactured without the use of CFCS or HCFCs, it has zero Ozone Depletion Potential. The rigid phelonic insulation panels are faced with aluminium foil.

Gatwick Airport's Pier 6, linked by the world's largest air passenger bridge to span a live taxiway, has been constructed using Kingspan KoolDuct. Pier 6 provides 11 extra pier-served aircraft stands and gaterooms, as well as a cafe bar and shops. The KoolDuct system was chosen for the pier connector which links the main terminal to the new pier. The product was chosen because it does not require additional lagging, a particular advantage in this application as space in the steelwork trusses was limited. Unlike traditional sheet metal ducting, which needs to be lagged with insulation as a second operation, the KoolDuct system requires only a single fix installation.
