A £2.2 million construction project in the West Midlands has benefitted from two of Kingspan Insulated Panel' products.
Kingspan's KS1000 LP Lo-Pitch has been used for the roof and KS1000 LS Longspan for the wall cladding on a large new laundry for Zip Textiles. Based just two miles from Birmingham city centre, the building has more than doubled production space for Zip, a supplier of linen and workwear to hotels and restaurants. The company was reported to have had a number of stipulations for their new base including low maintenance and sustained performance in high humidity conditions.
Flat roof insulation from Kingspan Insulation has been employed in the expansion of Tullibardine Distillery, makers of Scottish malt whisky. Some 8,000m? of the company's TR26 LPC/FM zero ODP insulation was installed underneath the curved Protan single-ply roofing system at the distillery, situated close to Gleneagles Hotel. Thermaroof TR26 is designed for use beneath standard mechanically fixed pvc and EDPM singleply systems.
'Firesafe' roof panels from Kingspan Insulated Panels are making sure that the roof of a firefighters training centre in Cardiff can withstand tough fire conditions. The brick building is roofed in some 2,000m? of Kingzip. This is an insulated standing seam roof system that integrates the company's insulated roof panel technology with standing seam construction techniques. The company claims that this provides high levels of weather tightness, thermal insulation, air tightness, fire performance, durability and structural integrity.
Darlington Borough Council's ?2.4 million redevelopment of Oban Court, a 33- bed extra-care accomodationsheltered accomodation, was aided by Kingspan's KS1000 TS insulated panel system. The system provides a single-fix platform onto which the timber battens were directly fitted, streamlining both the pre-construction design and on-site work stages. Once installed, the panel system provides weathertight protection.
This summer saw the first anniversary of the opening of the Lord Nelson Grandstand at Great Yarmouth Racecourse, and it still looks like an impressive structure. Kingspan Insulated Panels supplied some 2,000m² of KS 600/900 and 1000 MM (Mini Micro) cladding panels for the grandstand to provide defence for the building in what can be an aggressive coastal environment. A white finish to the panels was chosen to complement the existing buildings at the course.
Work to rebuild and maintain four schools in Bristol is being assisted by Kingspan Insulated Panels. The company?s Kingzip roofing system is being used on three of the schools at Henbury, Portway and Bedminster Down together with KS 1000 FL-S to the high-level clerestory areas and KS1000 LongSpan to the wall cladding on the leisure building on the Henbury school project. The roof to the new sports hall at Henbury School is curved to a 150m radius and the Kingzip system was fitted to an aluminium structural deck, spanning rafter to rafter within the swimming pool. The solution provided both sound absorption and reduction.
Recognising that vandalism of school buildings is a serious problem for local authorities,Kingspan has introduced the KS1000RT insulated roof tile panel system as an aesthetically pleasing solution. The system comes in the form of sheets consisting of steel facings that encapsulate a fire rated insulation core. The facings are coated with a polymer, and are designed to look like traditional overlapping roof tiles. These metal sandwich panels feature on two schools in Rochdale which were experiencing problems with youths on the flat roof. Since their introduction the amount of money spent on vandalism has been ?negligible?.
As part of Knowsley council?s housing regeneration project, 31 BISF houses in Whiston near Liverpool feature KS1000 RT roof tile from Kingspan Insulated Panels. The speedy fitting of the system was crucial as it ensured that disruption to residents was minimal. It also contains a FireSafe insulation core, and can be fitted directly to steel or timber purlins.
Watershed Roofing contractors are nearing completion of a new 2,400m² natural slate roof for the Markazi Mosque in Yorkshire. The contractors used a Kingspan modular decking system instead of separate sarking boards, felt and insulation to help streamline the entire flat-to-pitch conversion. By using the KS1000 TS insulated tile and slate support panel system it is claimed that the time taken to complete the pitched roofing programme will be reduced by half in comparison to traditional built-up insulation, sarking and felt. The Part L2-compliant pre-engineered system provides a structural platform onto which the timber roof battens are directly fitted, therefore streamlining both the pre-construction design and onsite work stages. It also has a 15- micron thick white polyester-coated inner steel shell, which means there is no need to line the ceiling.
Architectural wall systems from Kingspan Insulated Panels? have been employed as the cladding solution for a logistics company?s warehouse. A combination of KS1000 Optimo, KS1000 Mini Micro and KS1000 Wave panels were used to create the modern and clean looks which architects, Level Seven, were seeking. In addition, the panels are pre-engineered to precise dimensional tolerances to provide a low air leakage performance that complies with the latest Building regulations. The elevations of the building are 18 panels high, so a variety of colours, textures and profiles were used to as a design feature.
