This version is clearer, fresher and offers a straightforward point of reference for product information, new photography, pricing, specification details and availability.

The move follows the unexpected closure of its local agent which had been previously responsible for providing a full range of services. The company has leased its former agents premises, purchased their service vans and tools and re-employed the staff to ensure, says managing director Ismo Leppanen: 'Our customers continue to receive technical support and service'. Committed to improving environmentally friendly practices, Kronospan has reached its highest ever levels of recyling, use of FSC timber and reclamation of waste that would ordinarily be sent to landfill. The programme has seen Kronospan set new industry standards. One such example is the consumption of waste wood. The company uses 350,000 tonnes of waste wood each year, most of which is packaging waste, which would otherwise have been landfilled.

Using software created by ArtiCAD, Kronospan has provided its flooring and furniture distributors with the capability to access realistic 3-D graphics of finished products. Kronospan products can now be viewed as part of a complete room set in high-resolution, with the choice of selecting surfaces and accessories in kitchens, bathrooms and bedrooms.

Incorporated into the flooring ranges offered by Kronospan is the company's new Sound Absorption System. The result is claimed to be the company's quietest ever range of laminate flooring. The product has a thermoplastic coating and a 3mm noise-absorbing fibre mat, which reduces reflected sound by 50% and transmitted sound by 30% ? the company claims ? through absorbing noise and by converting sound energy into heat energy. It is maintained that 'a quieter sound which is also becomes deeper and more pleasant to the ear,' is produced. Removing the need for additional underlays, the bonded wood fibre mat reduces the cost and time taken to lay the system. Tests have proven that the sound absorption range is suitable for use with underfloor heating due to the high levels of heat transference. An additional layer included below the decor has an anti-static finish to provide protection against shocks. The lack of static makes the boards easier to clean as dirt is repelled from the surface.

Aimed specifically at the consumer market, Kronoflooring has launched the Krono Original range. Offering contemporary designs and modern colours, the portfolio of products will include six sub-ranges: Floordreams with a resilient surface and textured finish; Kronofix; Castello with a rustic wood-like texture; the Vario 'V groove' with a bevelled edge on all four sides of the board; Stoneline for a natural looking stone finish; and Kronoclic. The range incorporates the company's glueless angle/angle fitting system which clicks into place without the need for a hammer.
