Smallest escape window yet - LB Plastics Ltd

Hall 5, Stand M125 The Sheerframe sustainable window range from LB Plastics will be on display at Interbuild, and will include windows that achieve 'A' Energy Rating. A new range of acoustic ventilators will also be showcased. One of the latest additions to the Sheerframe range from is the PVC vertically sliding sash window, a design which offers egress to the requirements of Part B of the Building Regulations. It's engineering means that much smaller windows of this type can be used as escape windows for the first time, with windows just 900mm high complying with legislation.

Art block for all seasons - LB Plastics Ltd

A school art block in Harrow has been transformed by the Sheerframe System from LB Plastics. The project at Weldon Park School, completed by fenestration contractor Radway, involved the replacement of single glazed windows that meant the art block was susceptible to seasonal temperature variations. The PVC window and curtain walling for the building offers thermal efficiency, as the double glazed units are created using the Sheerframe 7000 system which is said to deliver a continuous indoor temperature. The Sheerframe grid system also features its own drainage, and thermal break elements.

A new four-chamber co-extruded reversible sash profile from LB Plastics has been launched to provide thermal efficiency and a eurogroove for simpler hardware installation. Window fabricator and installer, S Notaro, has been combining LB Plastics' Sheerlite roof system with Sheerframe windows and doors to manufacture conservatories. The compatibility of the two products allowed for the creation of a 3.5m by 3.5m conservatory with a pitched glass roof with opening rooflights, PVC guttering and aesthetic detailing. Both systems carry the 'organic stabilised' green tree logo.

Contemporary housing in the style of American architect Frank Lloyd Wright at Newcastle's Great Park uses Sheerframe curtain walling by L.B.Plastics. Bringing back to life the aesthetics - LB Plastics Ltd

Minimising disruption to patient care was a requirement of Sheerframe approved fabricator FineLine Windows during its window refurbishment at Royal Sussex County Hospital in Brighton. L.B. Plastics produced more than 500 Sheerframe vertically sliding sash windows and 300 tilt and turn windows. By using the Sheerframe vertically sliding sash, it was possible to restore the aesthetics of the original Victorian hospital buildings. The tilt and turn windows complement the traditional style of the modern elements of the building. In addition to reducing draughts and condensation, the pvc frames improve energy efficiency and lower maintenance costs over their lifespan.

Conserving the roof - LB Plastics Ltd

Specified for a conservatory roof at Red Lodge Care Home in Somerset is Sheerlite, manufactured by L.B. Plastics. A roof had to be built which would join the existing care home building with a new 16 room extension and create an expanded dining area. In order to ensure that the roof was constructed safely, Sheerlite galvanised steel rafters were used with hidden bolsters to provide a snow loading provision, without detracting from the visual appeal of the roof. The system has a clip lock mechanism with the capacity to fit all pvc window systems, fast fit gutter systems, 'captive bolts', and four glazing bars. Two ridge options are available with the variable ridge allowing for pitches of five to 40?.

Sheerframe systems company LB Plastics has launched a new range of products for the assembly of low thresholds for applications including standard domestic pvc doors and composite doors. The range has been developed to meet demand for low threshold doors influenced by the introduction of the Disability Discrimination Act and Part M of the Building Regulations. For the 5000, 6000 and 7000 system inward and outward open doors, the company has added a corner-moulding unit that screws to the bottom of the outer frame. Community centre gets youthful look - LB Plastics Ltd

An installation of curtain walling by Sheerframe fabricators, Window World (Wales), has altered the face of Brynteg Youth Centre, Ebbw Vale, South Wales, as well as making a more comfortable environment for its users. A new grid was installed in the gymnasium to replace the old single glazed window units that over time had begun to twist, creating gaps and causing a draught. The windows had also become difficult to operate. The curtain walling grid consists of 13 sections measuring 4.5m high by 1.4m wide, making the grid some 18m in length. Special brackets had to be designed to withstand the extra forces placed on them due to the height of the structure, as well as extra wind forces due to the centre?s exposed location. The new windows now make the space more usable, as previously it had been too cold in the winter months and uncomfortably hot in the summer.

Hunting out the right choice for two-tone specification - LB Plastics Ltd

Featuring a white finish on the outside and a light oak on the inside, Sheerframe System 6000 casements from LB Plastics have been installed at The Huntsman Inn at Holmfirth, West Yorkshire. This is an unusual request (the colour options are usually reversed), and was a first to fabricator South Yorkshire Home Improvements, which made the units. This application features a mixture of fixed- and opening-windows, including several large arched top units, small round windows on the upper level, casements with Georgian beading (separating areas internally), and small square feature windows. Sheerframe doors were also called for in the specification. Weather tightness and long life were other important factors in the selection of this range, as the inn is located in an exposed location. The window design gives a clean and modern look to the outside, with a rustic feel to the inside.

To make the most of views across 700 acres of woodland, parkland and a golf course, Countryside Properties has installed a large number of LB Plastics? Sheerframe windows in each of its new dwellings at Wychwood Park in Crewe. Each of the four-bed dwellings has up to 40 windows including four sets of French door combination frames, to take full advantage of the views and to allow in high levels of light. Having used timber for so long, the company was concerned that pvc would not look as good, but has been impressed with the quality of finish on the windows. These windows have the traditional look of timber without any of the associated maintenance problems.
