Building two new properties in the grounds of a listed country house required handcrafted natural plain tiles from Marley Eternit. Some 30,000 of the company's single-cambered Ashdowne tiles in Dark Oakwood colour were fixed on the roofs of the stone cottages. The two 1350ft? cottages were designed to resemble a single-storey converted stable block. Although the company's roof tiles maintained a traditional look externally, internally they are contemporary. Traditional tiling was needed to be sympathetic to the local architectural environment.
