Cornish roof is the cream

Marley Roofing Cornish roof is the creamWhen it came to the roofing materials for a pioneering US-style dairy unit, more than twice the size of its UK counterparts, the answer was provided by Marley Eternit's fibre cement profiled sheeting. The contractor had been using it since it was first introduced to him more than a decade ago but Cornish planners had also insisted the unit had an anthracite-coloured fibre cement profiled roof to blend into the landscape and surrounding environment. The ?3 million project is massive in scale and claimed to be unsurpassed in technology by the developers, Wills Bros. They spent up to three weeks in the US researching requirements before embarking on the project.

Combining the old and new

Marley Roofing Combining the old and newBuilding two new properties in the grounds of a listed country house required handcrafted natural plain tiles from Marley Eternit. Some 30,000 of the company's single-cambered Ashdowne tiles in Dark Oakwood colour were fixed on the roofs of the stone cottages. The two 1350ft? cottages were designed to resemble a single-storey converted stable block. Although the company's roof tiles maintained a traditional look externally, internally they are contemporary. Traditional tiling was needed to be sympathetic to the local architectural environment.
