Shining a bright light on air pollution

Maxit Building Products Ltd Shining a bright light on air pollutionUsing photovoltaic technology, maxit airfresh reduces volatile organic compounds, airborne pollutants and improves air quality. With the assistance of light, the product is able to break down organic molecules into carbon dioxide and water by means of a catalyst. The effectiveness of the degradation depends upon the light in the room. A gypsum-based plaster, it removes pollutants and unpleasant odours, such as tobacco fumes. It is the first mineral plaster for indoor use, the company claims, and destroys pollutants without itself being degraded. The product is now being used at a conference room at The Heath, complete with the airfresh wall coating, as a UK test centre. Available as a decorative plaster, it can be supplied in various grit sizes and structures.
