The ecologically sound Pavatherm, Pavatherm Plus and Diffutherm woodfibre insulation systems from NBT have been used to provide high performance, healthy and sustainable insulation for Willmott Dixon's Re-Thinking school demonstration building. The products outperform synthetic alternatives when it comes to durability.
A range of natural hemp batt insulation, which is claimed to be more thermally efficient than many synthetic alternatives has been launched by NBT (Natural Building Technologies). The company says the insulation provides a high performance, ecologically solution to insulating both residential and non-residential buildings. The batts are made using hemp fibres bonded together using a thermoplastic binder.
The ThermoPlan system and Pavaclad and Diffutherm timber frame building systems from NBT have each achieved an 'A' rating in the BRE's Green Guide to Housing Specification.
NBT's 365mm deep ThermoPlan system, finished with lime cement plaster externally and plaster and paint internally, scored 1.2 Ecopoints.
