Structural timber frames from Pace Timber Systems have been used for a residential development on the River Irwell in North West Manchester.
The company supplied its timber frames for the development of three and four bedroom houses in four house styles - The Hamble, The Loxley, The Westbourne, and The Wharf. Also constructed using the system are 6 three-storey apartment buildings. Pace Timber Engineering has also been involved, supplying roof structures for the other apartment buildings.
Around 500 homes are to be built using the Optima Homes off-site building system, launched by Pace Timber Systems and Cartwright Pickard Architects, in a ?25 million scheme.
The use of the system maximises off-site construction in line with BoKlok's commitment to modern methods, and will meet the design requirements for performance and flexibility.
Although functionality was important, the system was specified as a partner was required who shared the same aims and objectives with a commitment to innovation.
The apartments being made in Newcastle and Gateshead will provide a flexible open-plan layout with high ceilings.
Timber frame manufacturer Pace Timber Systems has secured its first order for Space Pods, a new operating division that is dedicated to the manufacture of bathroom and kitchen pods. Space Pods is to supply a total of 65 bathroom pods that are being fabricated for a London-based developer. Specified for a nine storey residential apartment development in Leeds city centre, each bathroom pod will feature German sanitaryware and Italian ceramics, shower units and thermostatic valves. In addition to supplying galvanised steel bathroom and kitchen pods, Space Pods also supplies pods in a structural timber frame. Fully-fitted and craned into place on site, the company is developing a number of standard pod designs to appeal to a wider range of markets.
