Dek Shield from Puhos is a flooring solution for housebuilders designed for both interior and exterior use as well as forming part of complete ground and apartment floors.
It combines a permanent waterproof surface and effective slip resistance with what the suppliers says is the highest quality raw material substrate.
External fixing uses a bonding kit and a new PVA adhesive for edge sealing. A 'superb finish' is said to be assured with easy surface cleaning of site spoil when the project is finished The watertight susrface gives protection against leaks and spills during the life of the building.
Used indoors, as part of a floating or joisted floor, Dek Shiled prevents moisture ingress from wet trades, helps keep floors flat and is an ideal substrate for the direct application of most floor finishes.
Awarded BM TRADA Certification forest products chain of custody (CoC) recognition under the Sustainable Forestry Initiative, Puhos Board has achieved 'Forest Products Chain of Custody No 038/-BMT -COC-0025' with the added statement 'TJI's 75% SFI Certified.
This relates particularly to the company's activity under the brand name iLevel Services-Puhos, in which it acts as a certified link in the Weyerhaeuser iLevel chain for Trus Joist engineered I-joists (TJI's).
An alliance between two chipboard flooring manufacturers, Puhos Board and Kronospan, aims to maximise the quality and routes to market of flooring products aimed at UK builders' merchants and housebuilders.
The Puhos brand has worked in partnership with Trus Joint in marketing flooring systems and has enhanced existing links between Puhos and housebuilders. Its Weather Dek flooring systems are now used in over 40% of new build houses. Weatherdek 2 will be available through Kronospan in place of its Weather Safe product.
Combining the characteristics of its Weather Dek2 concept with a P7 baseboard, Puhos Board has added the Elite Fast-Fix package to its range of flooring systems. With the addition of the P7 baseboard, the weather protection of the system is extended making it particularly suitable for social housing projects, apartments and terraced developments where longer exposure is likely. Weather Dek2 Elite Fast-Fix differs from the standard system, with only a minimal need for mechanical fixings. The system speeds the floor laying process even more, using a specially developed bonding adhesive, applied using an application gun. This bonds the panels directly on to engineered beams and requires only secret nailing through the tongue of the panel for positioning and additional security. The company says that this effectively eliminates squeaky floors. Weather Dek adhesives are designed to provide both a secure fixing and the flexibility needed for expansion joints in the completed floor.
