 Taking the heat out of a major schools building programme in Cornwall is a flame-free roofing solution from Ruberoid. Extensive roofing works formed part of a ?250 million PFI project led by Cornwall county council and Mowlem to upgrade Cornwall?s school stocks. This includes refurbishment and extension work at 28 primary schools and four large comprehensive schools at Poole, Redruth, Falmouth and Liskeard. Using Ruberoid?s flame-free Ultraply system meant the roofing work could be safely undertaken during term time. Ultraply is a single ply bituminous system which can be mechanically fixed and hot air welded.

Insurance demands met - Ruberoid Building Products Ltd |
 Meeting the stringent Factory Mutual insurance regulations on fire safety and wind uplift, a 3,000m2 roof from Ruberoid has been installed as part of a factory extension for a Midlands print plant. The Modiflex modified bitumen roofing system was chosen as it required no mechanical fixings to secure it to the substrate. This eliminated the risk of mechanical fixings causing a cold bridge through the insulation layer, allowing condensation to form and drip onto the equipment below. The fact that the system can be adhered also helped the roofing to meet the FM global requirements in terms of fire protection.
