The latest fixing clamps from SFS intec are said to offer architects and designers a new perspective on glass facades and other architectural glazing. The new ALW clamping system eliminates the need to drill glass using specifically designed clamps combining fun ctionality and contemporary aesthetics. Hinges for timber entrance doors are available from SFS Intec with the Easy 3D product. The 130mm hinge is cylindrical in appearance and available in several colour finishes. It can be used on 15mm or 18mm gasketed or ungasketed doors with adjustment in three dimensions using an Allen key to modify the sash's horizontal position by ?3mm.

Used on a Kingspan composite panel roof for a distribution centre were fixings from SFS Intec. The company's SXTP self drilling fasteners were used to through-fix Kingspan KS 1OOORW PIR composite panels to purlins. Also, austenitic steel TK telescopic fasteners were used to provide mechanical fastening of a single ply membrane to the deck, and SXC14 stainless steel fasteners were used to fasten cladding panels to the wall framing bars.

A new ?50 million Midlands self-contained shopping complex called The Ropewalk, has been completed with the use of fastening and ancillary details from SFS Intec. The company were able to provide deck fixings, telescopic fastenings for insulation and weather membrane, lap tapes and mastics. A complete package was supplied from the company, comprising over half a million items. Roofing at The Ropewalk comprises of a profiled metal decking, overlaid with a vapour barrier, 100mm of TR26 urethane foam insulation, and Alkoplan single ply waterproof membrane. SFS Intec self-drilling SD3 fasteners were used to fix the decking to beams. SFS TK fasteners with nylon telescopic tubes were specified to fix the insulation and the waterproof membrane to the decking, while providing a thermal break to assist Part L standards for energy efficiency.

An adjustable hinge for flush fit internal doors has been developed by SFS intec. Called Just 3D, the new product is part of the company's next generation range of hinges. Available in three finishes - zinc, matt nickel and matt stainless steel - it is designed to allow the creation of flush fit doors. Suitable for internal doors used in public buildings and luxury housing, it is load rated up to 100kg and has been performance tested to BS EN 1935: 2002. Specialist metalwork fabricator Arkoni has created an exterior glass canopy for a new Sheffield city centre hotel, using a fixing system from SFS intec. The 7300mm by 5880mm canopy at the Macdonald St. Paul's Hotel provides a cover over the main entrance to the ?20 million landmark building which is located in the heart of the city centre. Arkoni maunfactured the canopy using 17.5mm toughened laminated clear glass and AS spider arms and AO Flex countersunk fittings from the company. The single, bevel and flush point fixings are designed not only for applications such as canopies but can be utilised on other exterior and interior projects. An aesthetic dimension of the product is realised in the high grade stainless steel that it is made from, which makes it suitable for prestige projects such as this.

SFS Intec Part of the Ministry of Defence's ?1 billion Single Living Accommodation Modernisation project, Marne Barracks will provide on site living quarters for over 500 personnel at the Catterick Base, North Yorkshire. A permanent weather layer will be assembled by Corus using SFS Intec's SDK austenic stainless steel fasteners. The fastener installs the halter clips in one operation with the square driving peg snapping off once the fastener has reached a predetermined torque. Assembled at a nearby runway, the roof consists of 0.9mm Kalzip aluminium profile in single skin 100m? framed modules fastened with SFS Intec's fasteners. Roof modules are then craned on to the units and fastened with the company's fasteners to the structural metalwork, creating a permanent weatherproof layer in a day.

Membrane roofing systems from SFS Intec have been used to fasten an insulated roof at a new IKEA distribution centre outside of Doncaster for the North and East of England. Some 70,000m? of Sarnafil T membrane was fastened over 140mm of Rockwool Duoroc mineral insulation to steel decking over purlins, with 150 roof lights and smoke vent penetrations. The system ensures a thermal break for insulated membrane roofs whilst delivering 30% greater resistance to wind uplift than the current system, meeting Part L requirements. It comprises of the SBF-SQ3 Sarna screw preassembled to a nylon telescope tube in 50mm for inseam fastening or 20mm head form for Sarnabar attachment.

Independent security tests carried out on u-pvc doors fitted with SFS Intec's Dynamic 2D hinge have demonstrated that the hinge will still function after being subjected to a 9kN force. The test means the product passed the requirement for Secured by Design dwellings, meaning it has withstood a series of physical tests based on common burglary methods.

Comprising undercover viewing for some 400 vehicles, the new BCA vehicle auctioning centre, outside Bedford, has been constructed from Corus galvanised steel profile, using SFS intec irius austenitic stainless steel fasteners and ancillaries from the SFS Security package. The fasteners were used to secure the roofing to steel purlins. With their aesthetic colour heads to match the roof colour, they ensure a smooth, uninterrupted finished appearance.
