Timber frame design and build specialists Frame Wise is to use Interbuild as the launch pad for insulated wall, floor and roof panels that it claims will help developers meet the 2016 zero-carbon targets.
The in-house designed zero carbon panels should help housebuilders achieve high ratings under the Code for Sustainable homes with U-values of 0.1 or less for walls and roofs.
They incorporate thermal and acoustic mineral glass wool insulation from Saint-Gobain Isover which is manufactured using sustainable silica sand with up to 80% recycled glass.
The sustainability category introduced this year by Taylor Woodrow in its annual supplier awards was won by British Gypsum.
The award recognises the way the company worked with Taylor Woodrow to manage waste plasterboard on its sites. It has addressed every aspect of waste, from initial system designs and details that reduces generated waste to final collection and recycling.
Gyproc Thermalite boards donated by British Gypsum are helping an animal rescue organisation provide a care area in its new centre in the middle of the Cumbrian Fells.
The thermal lining boards, which comprise Gyproc plasterboard laminated to high performance insulating foam, will cut down heat loss through the building walls and help maintain a steady temperature.

Research from Saint-Gobain Isover has shown that using thermal insulation to comply with new Part L regulations would be the CPD subject of most interest specifiers and their clients. Although all respondents to a questionnaire issued on Isover's behalf by the Construction CPD Certification Service requested multiple subjects, this was the only category that all expressed an interest in.

Advise from Saint-Gobain Isover is being given to contractors when refurbishing properties to upgrade or install insulation to avoid deaths to the elderly during heatwaves.
The company have introduced a range of thermal insulants to meet the demands of the new Building Regulations.
New detailing has been developed by British Gypsum for its GypWall metal stud partitions that cuts the amount of waste generated at each door opening by 50%, the company claims.
It enables boarding to start from the door frame, which precludes the positioning of vertical joints at the frame. Based on standard studwork, it allows straight through joints above the door, reducing waste and creating 'rips' that can be used elsewhere.
Thanks to its commitment to waste reduction and recycling British Gypsum has won top place in the sustainability category of the 2006 AMEC Supplier of the Year awards.
The award was for plasterboard system supply and product recycling at Gateshead's Queen Elizabeth Hospital Treatment Centre, an NHS Estates Procurement 21 project.
Combining the strength and durability of gypsum with an aesthetic perforated pattern, British Gypsum has launched a new acoustic tile.
The Gyptone Sixto tile has a regular pattern of hexagonal perforations, which in combination with an acoustic backing tissue, provides sound absorption. It provides Class B absorption at 300mm plenum depth and a line load breaking strength of 45kgs.
Gypsum-based Arteco Casoprano ceiling tiles from British Gypsum have a higher light reflectance than mineral fibre, assisting in optimising lighting effects, the company claims.
The tiles have 80 times the water resistance of mineral fibre, and are not affected by common water staining which can diminish performance, says the company. Even after being soaked with water, the tiles will return to almost 100% of pre-test performance, with no effect on the light reflective properties.
Whole-life environmental costing are now important concerns for hospitals, schools and other public buildings. In independent studies carried out by the Leiden Centre of Environmental Science, Arteco Casoprano gypsum ceiling tiles from British Gypsum were considered superior to mineral fibre and steel alternatives as the best overall choice for the environment, the company claims.
The Casoprano tiles combine a natural mineral base with high levels of recycled raw materials and low embodied energy, providing a ceiling that delivers a high standard of performance throughout its installed life.
Re-engineered with deeper flanges and increased metal gauge to enable curved walls and partitions to be built higher, British Gypsum has introduced a new version of its Gypframe CurveLiner floor and ceiling channel. It can be used in conjunction with a deflection head detail allowing 25mm live or dead load deflection. The product is used as part of the company's GypWall Curve to create curved feature walls.
In order to meet performance requirements for hospitals, British Gypsum has launched a single boarded 'Severe Duty' version of its Gypwall Robust impact resistant partition system. Incorporating a 15mm Gyproc DuraLine board, the system provides high levels of acoustic and fire performance with good impact resistance. It has been fully tested and is certified to provide 60 minutes fire resistance and an acoustic performance of Rw 51dB, in addition to a Severe Duty rating.
Arteco Gyptone linings from British Gypsum have ensured that all communal areas in a development of apartments in St. Albans meet the latest Building Regulations Part E acoustic standards. Fairclough Homes chose Gyptone Quattro 46 boards for its Aventine development because of their clean, monolithic appearance as well as their ability to provide Class D sound absorption to meet the requirements of Part E. The boards are backed with a special acoustic tissue and can be decorated and redecorated without affecting performance.
Having decided to standardise the colour of all products in its range, British Gypsum?s acoustic board is now only available in a blue face colour. The Gyproc SoundBloc range includes Gyproc SoundBloc Rapid, a special sized board designed to be used in GypWall Rapid, the housing partition system designed to achieve the 40dB Part E requirement for internal walls without quilt. The new colouration will also be applied to the moisture resistant versions, Gyproc SoundBloc MR and Gyproc SoundBloc Rapid MR, which are widely used in bathrooms and kitchens.
