Some 630m? of Chesterfelt Strongbond Polyester Membranes has been applied to the roof of Wymondham High School in Norfolk. Concrete repairs were carried out before installing a 12mm recovery board and a felt vapour check layer to the existing primed concrete deck. A two layer built up system was then installed using the company's Strongbond underlay with green mineral capsheet.
One of Europe's 'greenest' buildings features a pre-assembled control centre for the plumbing heating and potable water services from SAV Valve Systems. Set in Macintosh Village, on the south side of Manchester City Centre, the Green Building is a mixed residential, educational and commercial development. The SAV plumbing modules were engineered off site and supplied custom-made for the project and the individual areas complete with all the manifolds and controls needed for domestic services and underfloor heating.

Five Boss plate heat exchangers (PHE) used in a new hot water system at Derriford Hospital have saved a considerable amount of money in its first year of operation, claims Alfa Laval. The exchangers were specified following a reduction in demand for hot water. Their design included buffer vessels to provide for periods of peak demand. This allowed the size of the PHEs to be reduced and provide a saving on capital costs.

Built to specification in stainless steel, the lift table was supplied in a quadrilateral or trapozoidal shape, in order to fit the shaft which was a last minute add-on.
Designed to simplify the cooking process, Beyond has introduced an ?intelligent? microwave oven. The Scan and Lean microwave features a wand, which can read barcodes and automatically sets the cook time and temperature. Over 2,000 barcodes are programmed in the memory but the microwave can learn up to 1,800 additional codes. It is available in a stainless steel finish.
Cast stone architectural masonry units from RMC Masonry have been used for a housing development called Pinewoods in Scottish border country. The cast stone detailing, which replicates natural stone, was used around the doors and windows of the houses and garages, as well as the copings and pillar caps on the perimeter walls.
An anti-drip worktop profile from GEC Anderson is proving popular with schools and hospitals, where hygiene and cleanliness are paramount concerns.
Headlands Primary School in Northampton and St Bartholomews Hospital in London have had the stainless steel worktop installed, which rises over a 20mm distance at the edge to a height of 3mm.
It can be applied to front, rear and side edges and is compatible with other edge profiles and surface finishes available on GEC Anderson worktops. It can be used on stainless steel of both domestic and acid resisting grades.
Martin Tye, GEC Anderson MD, said: 'It provides a practical barrier to stop minor spills, or items rolling off the worktop, that could damage under-sink cupboards or the floor below.'
