Acoustic brackets are being used to provide sound insulation for the Saint-Gobain Pipelines' Ensign drainage system used at the new sports hall at the University of Belfast.

For above-ground cast iron drainage systems in installations where high acoustic performance is required, Saint-Gobain Pipelines has introduced a dampener fitted to its standard bracket. This is said to eliminate the lagging laid down in the guidelines for pipes passing through walls and floors.
Part of the Ensign range, the bracket is said to offer an exceptional sound deadening performance which has been tested to new European standards.
While UK building regulations for sound insulation and noise reduction do not specifically cover requirements for wastewater systems, acoustic performance in schools and hospitals is now important.
Ensuring housebuilders comply with Part E of the Building Regulations whilst avoiding the need for pre-completion testing, Saint-Gobain Isover's Robust-Detail approved RD35 insulation system is the first proprietary Robust Detail of its kind. The company has also recently re-opened its Cheshire factory which will allow for a 50% increase in manufacturing capacity.
