Independent assessment for use on one-hour fire doors, under the test procedures of BS EN 1634-1 on an unlatched door, has been completed on Samuel Heath's controlled and concealed door closer, the Perko Powermatic.
This test a more onerous assessment of fire performance than BS 476, as it demands that test temperatures are achieved more quickly, subjecting doors and hardwares to a longer assessment time at prescribed temperature. Under the unlatched mode, this faces further demands on the performance as the latch is the only device keeping the door closed until activation of the intumescent strip.
The closer also has CE marketing and Certifire approval as well as compliance with the requirements of Approved Document M of the Building Regulations.
The product is suitable for a range of fire door applications in new-build and refurbishment projects in the private and public sector, on doors up to 80kg.
