Motor racing legend Sir Stirling Moss turned to Saniflo when he wanted to install a toilet on the third floor of his Mayfair town house.
'We wanted a loo on this floor but plumbing it in posed a significant problem as it would have been practically impossible to use conventional gravity fed 100 mm waste pipe.
So the only answer was to use a Saniflo unit which fitted into this vercompact space,' he explained.
The Sanichasse that has been installed is a modern ceramic WC and cistern. However, its attractive exterior conceals a powerful macerator pump unit which can pump waste water away to a remote soil stack and even below sewer level, through small-bore 22mm pipes rather than the traditional 100mm gravity pipework.
It can pump waste either to 100m horizontally or up to five metres vertically allowing use in lofts and basements.
Since the first Saniflo domestic macerator-pump was launched onto the UK market in 1979, Saniflo has had a strong new product introduction policy. The product's success in overcoming bathroom-plumbing obstacles meant that it wasn't long before the range was extended to accommodate kitchen and utility environments. But what about from bathroom to kitchen? Firstly, was the need for a pump as opposed to a macerator-pump. Secondly, the units had to be able to withstand the hot soapy water expelled from washing machines and dishwashers. The Sanivite meets this need. It has four connection points through which waste can be conveniently accepted (one on each side of the unit and two on the top) and its 360 watt motor quietly pumps vertically to a height of 5m, horizontally to 50m, or a lesser combination of both. Since then the range has been expanded to satisfy the growing demand for commercial heavier duty applications. The Sanispeed is one of these products. This pump is perfect for sinks, glass washers and dishwashers. It discharges through 32 pipework with a one per cent gravity fall. It will pump to 70m horizontally and its maximum discharge height is 7m with a flow rate of 43 litres/minute.
Self-contained showers from Saniflo's silicone-free Kinedo cubicles range have been installed by the developers of compact houses near Alton, Hants.
"Our experience with showers that are tiled and grouted are that they can leak, because it's difficult to get a good seal where it matters. With the Kinedo Freestyle 2000 this should eliminate these problems to provide a long term, efficient showering solution that will keep our customers very happy," explained Neil Rodwell, managing director of developers ManxGrange.
"Because they arrive in four flat-pack boxes they are easy to handle and being silicone-free it makes the installation much quicker. And they were easily fitted to the prepared plumbing and drainage systems," he added. The range comprises three corner entry showers all measuring 800mm x 800mm x 1980mm high. They share the same doors, panels and shower trays.
The Royal Seaforth container Terminal in Liverpool is the latest location to have a Sanivite unit installed. The Saniflo unit was installed at the dock office to provide a ground floor kitchen facility for the staff at the complex.
Saniflo said the product sat 'comfortably hidden under the kitchen sink taking waste water from the sink and pumping it away'.
The unit can be 'specifically designed to enable the addition of a full kitchen, domestic utility room or coffee station almost anywhere remote from the drain or soil stack, or even in a basement'.
Sanivite is able to take hot waste water from a sink, as well as hot soapy from a washing machine or dishwasher, through a small diameter pipe to drain some distance away.

To provide the necessary pumping power to enable the waste and water to be pumped ashore on a houseboat conversion, two Sanipro macerators and a Sanivite pump from Saniflo were supplied.
The Sanipro is suitable for installation of en-suite shower facilities. It enables a WC, shower and wash basin to be installed in most locations and can be concealed behind a demountable panel to give access if required. The product pumps away waste through 22mm pipes.
From the domestic range, the Sanivite pump is a compact pump usually housed in a kitchen unit, but can also be concealed behind a demountable panel. It is designed to deal with pumped waste water.
Suitable for application in converted houses, shops and offices, Sanivite from Saniflo is specifically designed to enable the addition of a full kitchen, domestic utility room, or coffee station, where the drain to which the waste water must flow is inconveniently sited.
It is applicable in almost any location, including areas remote from the drain or soil stack or in a basement.
A fully automatic, self-contained unit that fits underneath a sink, Sanivite takes either hot water waste from a sink or pumped hot soapy waste water from a washing machine or dishwasher, and pumps it away through small diameter pipework to a distant drain.
The product is powerful enough to pump waste away up to 5m vertically or 50m horizontally, or a lesser combination of both through a 32mm small bore pipework.
Facilities at the Building Centre in London include two toilets powered by Sanibest units from the Saniflo Professional range.
Sanibest is designed to perform in demanding applications such as public toilets. It features a motor combined with a radical macerator action that will cope with any objects accidentally disposed off through the W.C. Able to accept water at temperatures up to 90?C, it can also be used to discharge waste water from washing machines.
Self-contained cubicles from Kinedo, the shower arm of Saniflo, have been applied at a School.
Some nine Consort 800 cubicles have been installed. With a design to fit against one wall, it requires no silicone sealant to make it watertight and no tiling or grouting.
Toilet and shower facilities at the family owned Harleyford Marina on the Thames at Marlow, Buckinghamshire, include four Opus Quad Standard self-contained silicone-free cubicles from Kinedo by Saniflo.
Sized at 900mm by 900mm, the product has sliding curved glass doors and back panels of white material that have been moulded to incorporate accessory areas for toiletries. The safety glass doors have been treated with CristalPlus, a coating that reduces limescale build up.
For 27 years Saniflo has been developing new products that overcome plumbing difficulties. In 1979, the first Saniflo domestic macerator/pump was launched onto the UK market and it is now a virtually generic name for such units. Two of the best selling products in the Saniflo range are the Domestic Saniplus and Professional Sanibest. Saniplus is now one of the most successful products of the Saniflo range, which can receive waste and water from a complete bathroom or shower room (discharging through 22mm small-bore pipework up to 5m or horizontally to 100m or a lesser combination of both). It achieves this through the addition of low level entry points on either side of the container to accommodate waste from a shower, bath or bidet in addition to the WC and washbasin. Sanibest is a high performance macerator pumping system that will dispose of waste and water from WCs, urinals and other water producing items (to a height of 6m vertically or horizontally to 100m or a lesser combination of both). It has a high performance motor combined with a radical macerator pumping action that will deal with most objects accidentally disposed of through the WC. It has been engineered to cope with the difficult conditions it is likely to encounter in cafes, schools, restaurants and offices.
With nearly two out of three dwellings in the UK supplied with hard water, Saniflo has introduced a descaler to deal with the problem of lime scale.
Formulated with phosphoric acid, the concentrated solution will prolong unit life as well as maintaining efficiency when used regularly, the company claims. The product can also be used with a septic tank operation.
For the last 45 years, Nicki's Taverna and Hotel has undergone various refurbishments and developments, but something that has remained constant is the use of Saniflo products. The company has provided different macerators and cubicles for more than 20 years. The hotel has 25 bedrooms with en-suite facilities. The owner states that the use of Saniflo products, and their ease of installation, have allowed the rooms to be upgraded easy and straightforward.
