Installed at 'The Gasworks' in Dublin are thermal break units from Schock. The company's system allows thermally efficient connections between concrete-to-concrete, concrete-to-steel and steel-to-steel.
Known in Europe as the Schock Isokorb, the module is an integral, load-bearing part of the structure that insulates internal and external components, reducing heat loss and thermal bridging, with an F90 fire rating.
In this project the Isokorb serves as a shear force transfer element for loggias or column supported balconies, where the shear force transfer for the balcony has a low loading expectation. The balconies follow the curve of the structure and each one overlooks the central courtyard of the 'cylinder' construction.
