Simmtronic SPECS3 fully addressable lighting control systems are being installed by mechanical and electrical contractors Haden Young in the Cat A fit-out of 150 Cheapside. The prominent 19000m² corporate office development overlooks St Pauls Cathedral in London.
The presence-based lighting control scheme, specified by consultants Hilson Moran, encompasses eight floors of offices and core areas.
The company said this is required to maximise energy savings and contribute to the building’s excellent BREEAM rating.
Lighting specialist Simmtronic has been commissioned to supply its SPECS3 lighting control systems for a refurbishment project at One Exchange Square.
For energy saving, the perimeter lights dim in response to daylight and the interior lights to presence, and office occupants can take advantage of telephone switching, a feature that allows them to control the lighting above their work station through the telephone.

Branding it as an 'intelligent' replacement for the conventional light switch, Simmtronic has introduced its latest product. The SPK.9 addressible wall-mounted switchplate has been developed as the natural successor to the SPK8.
Each press button is individually configurable to select or cycle between lighting scenes with adjustable fade rates. Chosen buttons can also be used to control selected zones, all with multi-channel scene settings. Two or more lights can also be looped together.

A hardwired hub for its proprietary SPEC3 systems driving DALI technology has been developed by Simmtronic.
Said to be ideal for riser mounting, the new hub enhances the lighting control system to provide DALI control hardwired installations such as stairwells, cloakrooms, lobbies and corridors.
Designed for use with DALI ballasts and, in the case of emergency luminaires, a DALI inverter all control is achieved digitally.
Because there is no switching of power circuits, the hardwired lighting circuits can be wired directly from the distribution board circuit breaker.
