With regularised timber taking hold across the building industry, demand is growing for builders to get their hands on hangers to fit these resized products.
In response to this trend Simpson Strong-Tie has extended both its ranges of timber to timber (JHA) and timber to masonry (JHM) hangers to fit 47mm and 91mm variants. They have been designed to accommodate the reduced size of solid timber joists.

According to Simpson Strong-Tie, the recent increase in demand for its ITB backer-free hanger can be significantly associated with the use of floor cassettes in timber frame building. The ITB satisfies the demand for backer block-free connectors in I-joist floors. Featuring top and bottom flanges, the hanger forms a strong, safe and durable connection.
Designed for rafter to ridge connection in cut roof construction, the new Ridge Rafter connector from Simpson Strong-Tie provides interlocking of the top flange so that rafters can be correctly aligned. The new connector also prevents the problems of splitting that can be caused by traditional skew nailing. Manufactured in pre-galvanised steel, the connectors are fixed in place with four off square twist nails to both the ridge and the rafter. The Ridge Rafter can also be used as a rafter to vertical face connector by flattening the top flange into the ridge face.
Easily fitted using only one size of nail, the Simpson Strong-Tie ITB is a hanger which removes the need to provide and install backer blocks when supporting one I-Joist from another. The provision of a bottom flange tab not only helps the operative to set the hanger accurately against the underside of the bottom chord of the joist header but also provides enhanced download capacity. At the same time, an open top flange provides a certain amount of flexibility during the fixing process. Once the required number of nails has been driven home into the carrier joist, the carried joist can be secured in place using Positive Angle Nailing to speed installation and reduce the likelihood of splitting.
