Terca is confident that its latest products, the Windmill Golden Multi and the Windmill Orange Multi are set to become as quintessential to the British landscape as their name suggests.
The company says that, just like windmills, the two new bricks are highly sustainable.
Named after the location of the factory on Windmill Lane in Denton, the Windmill Golden Multi features a mixture of rough and smooth textures with soothing warm tones. The Windmill Orange Multi has a rich mix of light and dark tones in order to complement any landscape.
The company told Building Products magazine that the new products have been developed following research into the house building market in the North of England and Scotland, which revealed that softer tones are required, especially on high density developments. The ISO14001 accredited Denton factory (the first factory in the world to achieve this) is renowned for its environmental credentials so both bricks are manufactured using high levels of recycled material, making them the ideal choice for house builders looking to reduce their environmental impact.
Terca is boosting production at its Todhills site in County Durham with a new range of bricks aimed at housebuilders.
Incorporating the Whitburn Orange Multi, Runswick Red Multi, Saltburn Multi and Lynemouth Multi, the Bay range follows investment in new manufacturing equipment and technology at the factory.
'We are using a specialist technique to manufacture these nes products,' explained David Simpson, sales and marketing director for Terca.
'By reducing oxygen in the kiln during the firing process we can make the bricks more colourful and vibrant with flashes of blue, purple and grey'.

Terca is strengthening its position in the architectural sector with the launch of three new bricks. Available in three different sizes, the ‘Platinum White’, ‘Titanium Grey’ and ‘Basalt Black’ have been manufactured following direct feedback from architects across the country. Alan Gordon, Terca’s specification sales manager, said: 'These new bricks are unlike any other products in our current architectural range and are ideal for a wide variety of contemporary projects.'
Clay specialist Terca has developed a new range of bricks for developers. The range incorporates four new bricks designed to allow customers to mix and match on both commercial and residential developments.
The variety of tones seen in Sutton Red, Sandwell Red Multi, Coleshill Cream and Bourneville Buff Blend can be used either individually or mixed up together.
The bricks are said to offer advanced technical qualities and colour consistency, making them ideal for volume housebuilding, high-rise apartments and office developments.
Nigel Linton, Terca's product development director, said: 'Our strong relationships with developers have enabled us to create a perfect palette of colours and textures. The result is a fresh and vibrant selection of bricks that can meet any design or requirement.'
Adding further to its already burgeoning collection, Terca has introduced four new brick types aimed at builders and merchants alike. The bricks include the Caraway Multi, Mulberry Blend, Morello Cherry and Cranberry Multi. All are wire-cut and come out of the company's state-of-the-art plant in Surrey.
The Caraway Multi has a rippled surface and features 'rich red and purple colours as well as weathered highlights and cream speckles. Not dissimilar, the Mulberry Blend is also coloured red but instead has a textured surface with random setting marks. Offering a deeper purple is the Morell Cherry. This brick has blue hearting and, the company says, features a 'unique, fine stippled textured surface'.
Finally the Cranberry Multi, with an orange appearance, has random light purple hearting with precise edges.
