Building on environmental credentials - TermoDeck |
Up to 50 businesses across Warwickshire could benefit from some energy efficient office space following the opening of Eliot Park Innovation Centre (EPIC). The new business centre uses TermoDeck, a building system which allows the site to benefit from low energy consumption and reduced carbon dioxide emissions. The system provides an alternative to traditional heating and ventilation system. The company believes that TermoDeck buildings offer extremely low levels of energy consumption compared to other forms of building. It is designed to provide a stable temperature across the whole building. Air is passed through hollow concrete slabs that form the floors and ceilings of the building these slabs act as a thermal store allowing either heat or cooling to be transferred into the office space.

Fresh air increases student concentration - TermoDeck |
Specified for low energy performance whilst providing a comfortable atmosphere for pupils, Hautlieu School in Jersey incorporates TermoDeck, a new heating, cooling and ventilation system designed to reduce carbon dioxide emissions and overall energy consumption. The new ?13.9 million school is one of the largest schools in the channel islands. With the emphasis in the construction industry on the need to reduce, reuse and recycle, Jersey Public Services created a school that was capable of providing a long-term environmentally friendly solution for the island. TermoDeck works by channelling air through the precast hollowcore units, which act as ?thermal batteries?, which is then distributed into individual rooms via diffusers in the ceiling or floor. In this application the ability to provide a constant source of fresh air enables pupils to remain alert for longer periods, and can increase concentration.
