Rondor circular-sliding automatic entrance - Tormax United Kingdom Ltd |
When customers arrive at the Marco Restaurant, they will be welcomed by a Rondor circular-sliding automatic entrance from Tormax. Located in the grounds of Chelsea football club, the restaurant is the new venture of celebrity chef, Marco Pierre White. The Rondor consists of two sets of curved glass doors, creating a striking architectural feature. The external doors slide apart, allowing customers into a lobby area where they face a second set of doors leading directly into the restaurant. An integrated air curtain effectively helps maintain the ambient temperature for diners, while the doors are powered by Tormax TEP operators, neatly housed within the circular casing.
Target Living, the interior architects, discussed many options for the entrance way with Tormax but with relatively limited available space the Rondor was specified partly because it creates 50% larger opening space than sliding doors would deliver, and because an airlock can be formed between two sets of doors.

Doors open automatically for sixth formers - Tormax United Kingdom Ltd |
Aiming to improve accessibility for all students and staff, Farnborough Sixth Form College, contracted Glass Products to design and install a lobby area to the main entrance of the building, with automatic door operators being supplied by Tormax.
Making a feature of the curved transom of the existing brickwork, an all-glass lobby has been created with a double set of automatic doors ensuring smooth flowing foot traffic, even at busy times of the day.

Swiss-designed, all Tormax operators are the result of over 50 years experience in developing cutting-edge, automatic door technology.
The TDA Swingdoor is one of the most established Tormax operators, delivering exceptional reliability combined with unequalled functionality. Responding to customer demand, the Win Drive Slidedoor delivers a system that is quick to install, surprisingly compact, and simple to operate.

Automation operates undercover - Tormax United Kingdom Ltd |
Improving access for University of Cambridge students and staff, the Tormax TN underfloor operator delivers DDA-compliant door automation to the main entrance of the University Library.
Despite technical difficulties, the architects converted the cast bronze screen to one side of the revolving door into a swing door weighing over 450kgs. Using Swiss technology, the operators work under heavy pedestrian traffic.
The electro-hydraulic swing door operator is mounted in a steel box which is sunk 130mm under the floor. Transmission noise is eliminated by sound absorbency of the door lever itself and by encasing all working parts of the operator in an oil bath. Additional activators and safety sensors are available too.

Portrait of the artist as a new door - Tormax United Kingdom Ltd |
Continuing to improve accessibility, the National Portrait Gallery specified Tormax to install four underfloor door operators, automating two sets of double manual swing doors.
Hidden out of sight, the electro-hydraulic TN units are mounted in a galvanised steel box sunk in the floor. For service free operation, all parts are encased in oil. The control panel is installed in a suitable location near the doors, as specified.
As well as using products from the company, the Gallery also took advice on adjusting angles and opening and closing speeds.
In addition to improving access, the doors help preserve the collections inside because the manual doors were often left open, leading to costly heat loss and damage.
