When new parking spaces were needed for a multi-storey car park at the Crawley Leisure Park in Sussex, the solution involved a new deck surfaced by Tremco Illbruck's Rapide waterproofing and wearing course system. More than 1000m? of the fleece reinforced liquid applied membrane system was laid to seal the reinforced concrete structure. Commenting on the outcome of the project, Tony Blencowe of specialist installers Cemplas Waterproofing and Concrete Repairs said: "When we were invited to tender for this contract we did so on the basis of utilising the Rapide system as it is a fast curing, hardwearing and competitive system."

A challenging refurbishment project which involved replacing a failed membrane installed across the upper decks of a multi-storey car park in Coventry turned to Tremco illbruck's Rapide waterproofing and wearing course system to provide the answer. The original waterproof treatment applied to the precast concrete decks on the steel frame had cracked allowing rainwater to cause serious problems. Around 2200m? of the system was installed after the failed surfacing was removed by planing before the installation of the fluid applied system that is reinforced with metre wide rolls of polyester fleece to prevent cracking. Different colours are available to identify walkways.

Five housing blocks in London have been re-roofed using the Hi-Therm waterproofing system from Tremco illbruck. The existing areas of asphalt were repaired, had their insulation upgraded, and were finished using Elastomeric Felt mineral cap sheet in a terracotta colour. Matching Torch-On Felt was employed to detail the parapet upstands and service penetrations.

As a cost effective option for roofing, Tremco illbruck has launched the Tremtorch 10 and Tremtorch 15 torch applied roof waterproofing systems. Both products are mineral and sand finished SBS modified bitumen roofing felts that are safe to apply as there is no need for hot bitumen boilers. Offering long life protection, Tremtorch 10 Capsheet has a film protected selvedge whilst Tremtorch 15 Capsheet is available with a sanded selvedge. The polyester core provides puncture and tear resistance and flexibility. Both systems are suitable for waterproofing replacement and overlay roofs.

Two new products have been added to Tremco illbruck's range of floor smoothing compounds, the Treadfast Unilay one part self smoothing underlayment and Treadfast Unibase pre-smoothing repair compound. Designed for the preparation and smoothing of interior subfloors, Treadfast Unilay is a cementitious compound that provides adhesion to a range of flooring substrates and is suitable for thicknesses of 1mm to 5mm. Suitable for use below damp proof membranes, Treadfast Unibase can bond to damp porous substrates without the use of a primer and has a suitability for thicknesses of 3mm to 50mm.

Specified for the installation of a lift at a castle in Worcestershire is a perimeter sealing system from Tremco illbruck. The i3 sealing system was used for the perimeter sealing of the glazing units to provide airtightness. More than 10,000m of Tremco's Hi-Therm system has been installed at the St John's Centre in Liverpool. The company's Thermacore thermal imaging system revealed that the majority of the roof was in good condition, avoiding the need to strip back to the deck. Instead, the damp patches were addressed by installing screed vents to enable moisture build up to dry out gradually.

Approval from Paragon Joinery has been given to a new glazing tape by Tremco-Illbruck that has been developed for use with its new Virtuoso timber window system. The new profiles are available in a timber-only version or with an external Renolit pvc foil. Virtuoso tape comprises a closed cell foam coated on both sides with a pressure sensitive adhesive that is UV and moisture resistant. It has a high elasticity and its cohesive strength ensures that a durable seal is created between the glazed unit and profile, bonding the glass into the timber system. Quick to apply, the tape incorporates a non-tearing filmic liner to aid positioning during assembly of the window system.

Allowing for flexible use of the school hall, a Dorma Variflex movable wall system has been installed at St Julian's High School in Newport. With design and construction variants, the Variflex system offers a choice of elements and stacking arrangements. It was chosen for this application as the ceiling height at the school was close to 6m. The moveable wall system offer sound insulation of 49dB and can be installed into spaces with sloping ceilings or circular areas. A range of surface finishes are available, including wood veneers, laminates, metallic finishes, granite fabric coverings and stainless steel inserts. Sheet steel, fibreglass, and textile surfaces can also be specified.

Utilised on the new premises of Stephenson College at Coalville are flooring products from Tremco. Due to the high moisture content readings detected in the power floated concrete slabs, the company's Treadfast One Coat Universal surface damp proof membrane was recommended to be applied across the whole 10100m? complex. For the areas due to be laid with commercial floorcoverings, the company's Unitex was applied to smooth the surface. Classic Interiors then installed Armstrong Fundamental carpets and resilient rubber flooring. Refurbishment at Cafe Carrington in Cambridge has involved the use of Tremco's Treadfast Uniflow underlayment and Treadfast Universal damp proof membrane. Due to a tight building programme, Uniflow's ability to receive a final floorcovering of high quality vinyl within eight hours of being laid on top of the damp proof membrane was a reason for specification. As a result, six days were saved from the contract. The existing floor surface of polished marble tiles was cleaned and abraded prior to laying of the damp proof membrane with a notched trowel and flattening it with a roller.

For refurbishment at a car park in Blackpool Tremco's Tretodek Hybuild and Rapide HB Systems have been applied. Protecting the structure and its interior spaces from water ingress, Tremco's Hi-Therm system has been used to effect repairs to Manchester's Midland Hotel's leaking roof. Hi-Therm was used together with the company's liquid applied Tremco LWS to address complex detailing around a kerb and guardrail at the roof's edge. A liquid applied system was specified as there is a 300mm high wall around the perimeter with cast iron railings which would have been difficult to dress with felt.

Situated in one of the most fashionable areas of London, a riverside apartment had its roof areas refurbished using a selection of systems and services from Tremco. A survey conducted using Thermocore thermographic equipment revealed that the property at the Quay West development in Ferry Road was suffering from water penetration through the upstands. Repairs were then carried out to the asphalt prior to the deck areas being prepared with Quick Drying Primer. This was followed by the installation of Elastomeric Felt underlay and Elastomeric Felt sand finished cap sheet, bedded using Tremco Thermastic.
