When a new village hall was commissioned for Lamphey, south west Wales, Project Manager Ian Pankhurst approached fellow resident and owner of Gas Technical Services, Paul Smith, to install a traditional boiler and radiator heating system. Paul's concern for the hall to be as efficient and practical as possible led him to commission a Unico heating system. In public meeting places, radiator heating systems are particularly wasteful as, being slow to reach a comfortable temperature, they are often left on when the building is unused. Unico's high-velocity air aspiration system means that even large spaces warm up quickly, so there is no need to maintain a background heat when the building is unoccupied.Knowing of the regular playgroups that meet in the hall, Paul was also keen for the system to be child-friendly. The radiators would have to be run at low surface temperatures in order to be safe to touch, increasing the problem of heating time-lag. Unico's mini-ducts provided the solution.

For a heating and cooling system at a Pembrokeshire coAstal hotel that not only gave good performance, but also didn't disturb guests, a Unico System heat pump mini-duct system was specified. The pumps use the inverter-driven technology that are claimed to achieve an energy-efficient heat transfer to the air supply.

A Unico System heat pump mini-duct heating and cooling system has been installed at a hotel set on Pembrokeshire's heritage coastline. Four handler modules provide temperature control in Cliff Hotel's 21 bedrooms with another two for the swimming pool and health spa. Each module is linked to a Daikin reversible heat pump outside the hotel. The system was chosen because it is quiet in operation and there is no need for radiators.

Providing quiet operation for use with home cinema environments, Unico System's mini-duct central heating and cooling system has been applied at the owner of AV Forums' 'Picture House'. The 5KW system was installed with the external fan positioned outside the front of the home cinema. Internally, eight outlet ports for heated and cooled air have been positioned roughly evenly spread out in the ceiling area. The return grille is located above the seating area and the control panel on the wall. An internal 5KW electricity supply is positioned in the Picture House loft, suspended from rafters. Temperature is regulated by a control panel which shows target temperature and actual temperature. Up and down arrows allow the users to set the target temperature.

Clothes outlet Choice has installed seven 18kW cooling units from Unico Systems as part of a multi-zoned air cooling network at its Bluewater store. The company claims that, through the high velocity air delivered from the cooling outlets, the store features consistent temperatures throughout and even temperatures from floor to ceiling.

Claimed to provide up to 20% more heating and cooling capacity than other models available, Unico System has introduced the MB4860 air handling unit for its mini-duct heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems. The unit features an improved A-frame construction which increases the surface area across the coil, promoting improved heat and cooling transfer and therefore greater capacity. It is designed to fit where other systems cannot be used as the modular air handler and coils can be installed in attics and ceilings with the mini-ducts routed through existing cavities.
